The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 6 and Florida Turnpike Enterprise (FTE) are developing construction plans to widen sections of the Palmetto Expressway and Florida’s Turnpike in addition to improving a system-to-system connection at the Golden Glades Interchange that will cause portions of the existing FGT 18-inch mainline to be relocated. The Turnpike-Palmetto Road Relocation Project, as currently proposed, will require the abandonment of approximately 19.1 miles of FGT’s existing 18-inch mainline pipeline, and the relocation and construction of approximately 15.4 miles of anticipated 24-inch mainline pipeline along existing corridors, including Florida Power & Light’s power line corridor and private easement, in order to provide continued natural gas service to meet the demand for energy in South Florida. FGT invites all interested parties, including Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Staff, to attend an open house regarding FGT’s proposed Turnpike-Palmetto Road Relocation Project. The open house is an informal opportunity for you to learn more about the project. Representatives from FGT will be on hand to answer questions regarding the project. Information will be available on topics such as project scope, location of pipeline facilities, environmental surveys, facility design, construction, operation, schedules, land restoration, and the safety and regulatory processes.
