Fall 2016
The Youth Ministry of Saint Anthony, Saint Edward, and the Church of the Presentation of the Blessed
Virgin Mary is an engaging and welcoming community for its youth and friends that: surrounds them
with an unconditional love that fosters genuine relationships, anchors them in the joys and traditions of
the Christian faith, and energizes and equips them to extend the love of Christ to the world.
CinemaWorld Lnaes & Games Bowling
A group of Youth Ministry members gathered at Cinemaworld Lanes and Games on August 7th
for an afternoon of bowling. We split into two teams and had a great time, Gian even won two
free games of laser tag! We enjoyed the friendly competition and relaxed atmosphere of bowl-
ing and can’t wait until we are able to make this trip again.
Malala Yousafzai
Several members of our Youth Ministry Program went to the Dunkin Donuts Cen-
ter in Providence on Thursday, July 28th to listen to a presentation by Malala
Yousafzai. She is known throughout the world as a brave, young advocate for
peace and a symbol of hope for women and education because of her resistance
to the Taliban. Malala survived an attempt to kill her and has carried her message
world wide. She is a recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize. All members that attended
were moved by her powerful words and inspirational message.
Kayaking Trip 2016
Youth Ministry went to Narrow River Kayaking, on August 13th, for a day of fun. We started our day at 10am and kayaked up to
the beach where we swam and explored for a few hours before returning back to shore. It was a day full of bonding and
laughs. Thank you to Mary Grande for suggesting this great idea! Hopefully we can make this a yearly adventure.
Saint Anthony Annual Feast
During the weekend of the Feast of St. Anthony, Youth Ministry members ran a fruit stand in the rain and in the shine. We
raised a total of $800 to fund a playground for the children of Rosario. This was a continuation of our year-long mission work
for the village in Guatemala. We had many laughs putting together treats for attendees, and look forward to doing it again next
summer.
Paw Soxs Game
On June 24th, the group took a trip to McCoy Stadium to see the Pawtucket Red Sox play the
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders. The game was concluded by a spectacular firework show,
accompanied by 90s tunes. Gian enjoyed seeing the Yankees’ minor league team take down
the PawSox on their home field, much to everyone else’s dismay. Thank you to the Perez
family for coming along with us on this trip.
About Our Program
Our program has evolved from a small collection of teens, to a much bigger, more diverse, and dedicated group. We hope in the
future that more people will rise above with their peers to help us fulfill our mission of making an impact on the community
around us. If you are interested in getting involved, continue reading below to see the activities we are planning for the upcom-
ing months. We hope you come and join us, our door is always open!
