Results and Interpretation

POSITIVE RESULT

- A red-violet line appears in the upper part of the rectangular result window (control line)

- A red- violet line appears in the lower part of the rectangular result window (test line)

- Indicates:a. The presence of Hepatitis B antigen in

patient’s serum or plasma ( >2ng/ml)b. That the patient is infected with Hepatitis

B virus

NEGATIVE RESULT- A red-violet line appears in the upper part of the

rectangular result window (control line)- Indicates:

a. The absence of Hepatitis B antigen in patient’s serum or plasma or HBs Ag concentration is less than 1ng/ml b. That the patient is not infected with Hepatitis B virusc. The reagents are actived. The test has been performed correctly

Page 12: One Step HBsAg Test

INVALID RESULT- No red-violet line appears in the upper part of

the rectangular result window (control line)- Indicates:

a. Improper performance of testb. Deterioration of reagents

In our experiment:

Our result was negative for the HEXAGON HBs Ag because only one red-violet control line appeared in the lower part of the rectangular result window.
