Transport Mitra Services

On the morning of June 1, 2015 when we boarded – ‘Sel’van Dasaraj, Founder of Transport Mitra, Darcl’s executives Aakib Ahmed and Shubajit Chatterjee, popularly known as ‘Darcl Dada’ and self – Jet Airways for Ranchi in Jharkhand from Delhi Terminal 3, the excitement was palpable.

We knew it would be an interesting journey. The only concern was the heat wave gripping the country as a whole and north India in particular. We told ourselves it was all part of the game. Let’s face it.

The hour long flight was indeed turbulent. The situation was so bad that the cabin crew quietly had done away with serving hot beverages which ‘Sel’ kept asking for it.

The check out was quick and smooth out of sparsely crowded Birsa Munda Airport, Ranchi a few minutes after 1300 hours. To beat the heat, Aakib gallantly picked up a few chilled water bottles for en route consumption. Compare to Delhi, the Ranchi weather was better. So far, so good.

Our pick up vehicle – Honda City JH 05BE 6454 – was ready to drive us to our destination: Jamshedpur or Tata Nagar, the steel town visualized and built by Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata more than a century ago.

Driver – oof, Pilot Shuklaji – briefed us that the Ranchi-Jamshedpur distance of 125 km approximately would be covered in less than two hours, taking into consideration a short mini meal halt en route.

Well, we did not reach Jamshedpur at 1500 hours. Why? Well, our objective was something different.
