Mise-en-scene –• Costume – yellow dress. represents the artist.
Represents the genre and theme.• Setting – naturalistic, shows the relationship
as natural and organic.• Location – countryside.
Represents nice and peaceful atmosphere, like the genre.
Sound – • Goodwin Analysis- link
between lyrics and visuals -”lying on the sun-kissed grass” – and the couple are lying on the grass at this point - illustrative.
• Illustrates a story within the song. Song is about something that happened and the artist is re-enacting it.

Editing – • Slow cuts between shots – represents the
calmness of the song and genre• Continuity – same costume – consistency of
branding the artist, type of clothes she wears. Consistency of the relationship

NarrativeTodorov – Exposition – Olivia and Derek introduced at the
beginningDevelopment – the couple in different locationsComplication – not really a complicationClimax – not really a climaxResolution – not really anything to resolve.
Our music video doesn’t have much narrative.Propp – not relevant to our music video.
Goodwin – • “alternative folk” – the artist singing, lots of
close ups and medium shots of singing.• Location – countryside and pub. Folky feel.• Music and visuals – music is slow pace and so
is the editing and transitions of the whole video.
• The demands of the record label will include the need for lots of close ups of the artist – ours has done this.
Genre - FOLK
Genre - FOLK• There is not frequent
reference to the notion oflooking and particularvoyeuristic treatment of the body – its not really within the folk theme.
• There is often intertextual reference (to films, TV etc.) we have a slight reference to Twilight – one shot is similar - high angle shot looking down on the couple
Representation
Relationships – • Sound – lyrics of the song• Cinematography – lots of two-shots• Cinematography – close ups of couple• Cinematography – long shot of couple walking
holding hands• Cinematography – high angle of couple• Mise-en-scene – location – romantic• Mise-en-scene – lighting – pretty and
nice. Red – representing love
Representation
• Cinematography – when the camera spins around the couple represents the love of a couple as eternal and forever spinning around
• Editing – continuity- shows the relationship as continuous.
Audience• Location – domestic consumption, no regulations
needed as there is no violence, drugs or sex• Consumption – we aimed at female acoustic fans,
who perhaps liked the folk genre• Size – we aimed at a narrow fan base who prefer
unsigned artists. Niche audience• Subjectivity – Genders would react differently, as
women are generally more into romantic songs. Different countries and cultures would react differently to the music video as they would not agree with a woman portrayed being that way.
Audience
• I think we would have a passive audience as there is not a lot to contest with unless you did agree with “young love”.
