OIC Regional Director Noemi A. Paranada,

together with Secretary Regina Paz L. Lopez joined

the 2017 Earth Day celebration.

Every year, on the 22nd day of April, billions of

people gather together for a day of action

that aims to promote change in human be-

havior towards environmental conservations

and elicit improved policy changes.

Today, the fight for a clean environment con-

tinues – continuously building a stronger and

wider populace with a clearer grasp on the

concept of environmental issues like climate

change and the unprecedented catastrophe

that it could bring to our planet.

By educating the people, we are likewise

empowering them and increasing their level

of awareness that will eventually fuel a per-

son/ a group of people to take action in de-

fending and protecting the environment.

For this year, the Environmental Management

Bureau participated in the “PRO Earth Run

2017: Forest Trail Edition,” facilitated by Earth

Day Network Philippines, Inc. (EDNIP) - a local

counterpart of the global Earth Day Network

International. The said run covered a 2km trail

under the lush canopy and peaceful ambi-

ance of La Mesa Eco-park.

Likewise, the activity also served as a fund rais-

ing activity for different environmental advo-

cacy programs like forest restoration and bio-

diversity conservation projects. Some of these

include activities like planting and nurturing of

indigenous and endemic trees.

Since the activity was not the typical race,

everyone were encouraged to simply enjoy

the invigorating energy and beauty that

Mother Nature exudes. In this way, partici-

pants can internalize the essence of the activ-

ity and appreciate the sole planet that des-

perately needs their care.

Some EMB personnel participated in the event.
