NOTES FROM THE EDITORWell the year is already half over. Hopefully things are getting back to some what normal for

you and your family.

There are several hamfest going on during the month of July and August. Check out the dates and time of the hamfest on our hamfest pages of this letter.

We had a couple of Grant County Hams become Silent Keys for the months of May and June. James “Jim” Downing – N9FVZ became a Silent key in May. James Hawkins – W0BTO became a silent key in June. Our prayers go out to the family and friends of each of these Silent Keys. I have expanded the Silent Key page of the Grant County Amateur Rado Club's webpage. It now shows a picture of the Silent Key with Callsign and Date of Birth (Month and Year) and Date of Death (Month and Year). If anyone has pictures of the following hams that would be great. The following hams are ones that we do not have pictures for.

Arnold E. Click – KS9E James “Brad” Banter – WA9MJSJames Allman Jr. - WD9EOI Tom Wendt – W9MREDoug Elzey – KA9VIT Marvin A. Calvert – N9HQU

Hervert S. Morgan – W9GBH (Need Picture only)Watler Wallace (Need callsign if anyone knows it)

Unfortunately, we have been unable to locate information for the six Silent Keys listed above. If you have an obituary or picture or date of birth and date of death, please email that information to:

L.B. Nickerson at [email protected] - or - Vicki Rudicel at [email protected]

I want to thank the following members of the Grant County Amateur Radio Club that haveContributed to compiling this list: Kevin McNeely – KB9CRA, Jeff Banter – KC9CQZ, Ed Brown - N9GTL and a special thanks to Vicki Rudicel – KB9OME who put a lot of work into the page.

The last thing I want to talk about is the monthly Siren Test. The club has been working withThe County EMA Office on the monthly Siren Test. We have done 3 of these test so far. We will Continue to work with the EMA Office on these Siren Test. These test take place on the 2nd SaturdayOf each month. We have 8 sirens that we cover in Marion. The volunteers watch these sirens toMake sure that they sound and rotate. This is part of the Local RACES program. If you areInterested in joining RACES please get in contact with L.B. Nickerson at [email protected] or EdBrown at [email protected] for an application.

Everyone have a great summer and continue to ham it up.
