Simple and quick connection with no force or loss of pressure in the system:Operation of OETIKER Swing Coupling SC

DisconnectionPull back orange ring and swing adaptor tostop. Remove adaptor from coupling.

In order to prevent the hose from ejectingdangerously, the adaptor must be held in thehand until the hose is completely ventilated.

ConnectionPush suitable adaptor into coupling and swingapproximately 90º until the orange ring enga-ges in the groove.

Lubricants

All OETIKER Couplings are greased with thestandard high quality silicone free lubricant.

Seals

The following quality seals are available forOETIKER Couplings. Various seals can beused depending upon the throughput media.All details are not binding. Before use, pleasecontact OETIKER for information about theconcentration, mixture or temperature ofmedia. If there is any doubt, trials should becarried out. All legislation relating to food-stuffs must be observed.

Standard

Type N Nitrile elastomer (NBR)Good ageing resistance, high mechanicalstrength, resistant to oil and petrol.Temperature from -20º to +100ºC.

Option

Type V Fluorine elastomer (FPM)Very good resistance at high temperatures(except for hot water and steam). Good resi-stance to many chemicals, ozone, weather.Temperature from -15º to +200ºC.

Type P Ethylene propylene elastomer (EPDM)Very good resistance against hot water andsteam, resistant to ageing and weather, notresistant to mineral oils and grease.Temperature from -40º to +150ºC.

Where there isany doubt, trials must be carried out.

Note about SafetyISO 6150 §7.1 recommends that a hose ofat least 300 mm in length should be usedbetween the coupling and a vibrating tool.Please also read the operating instructionswhich are supplied with the coupling.

Selection and HandlingIncorrect handling or the wrong choice ofswing couplings or accessories can result indamage to property and/or personal injury.The maximum operating pressure for eachmodel as specified by the manufacturer mustnot be exceeded. The throughput medium isa critical factor in the choice of seal andcoupling material.
