SPIRITUAL ADOPTION PROGRAM

Thank you for praying for me. I am 7 months old

now. I am growing every day. I’m

between 14 and 17 inches long and

weigh about 4 1/2 pounds. I move

around a lot but it’s getting crowded in here! Sometimes I

even get the hiccups!

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION PROGRAM

Communion Workshops

Sacrament Preparation Program for First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion began September 19, 2017. This is a parent involvement program and it is mandatory that at least one parent (or representative selected by the family) attend each workshop, scheduled as follows:

Workshop I MONDAY, OCTOBER 30, 2017 at 7:30 p.m.

A communion fee of $150.00 is due at this workshop

Workshop II MONDAY, MARCH 12, 2018 at 7:30 p.m.

No child will be registered if he or she is not represented at each of the workshops. These meetings are mandated by the Archdiocese of New York. The requirements for a child to enter the First Holy Communion program are as follows:

MUST BE ENROLLED IN THE GENERAL RELIGIOUS PROGRAM

MUST HAVE SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED TWO YEARS OF RELIGIOUS EDUCATION PRIOR TO MAY 2018.

Dear Father Travers,

Thank you for allowing us to conduct our Baby Bottle campaign in Holy Child Parish again this year. This fund raising activity is truly vital to our work.

Now that the final pennies have been deposited, I am happy to report that with 203 bottles returned from the church we were able to raise $3,005.71. Again, we offer our sincere thanks for your continued support of our work with expectant and new mothers in need.

Troop 132 Food Drive

Troop 132 will be holding it’s Annual Food Drive on Saturday, November 4

th and Sunday, November 5

all masses. In years past the troop has been able to deliver over 50 baskets to needy families throughout our community. With your generosity we are hoping to be able to do it again. Cash donations will be accepted. The Troop will go to the supermarket to purchase food items for our baskets

All non–perishable donations will be accepted before and after all Masses except the 6:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Holy Child Christmas Fair Saturday, November 11

Our annual Christmas Fair will be held on Saturday, November 11

th. Many of our old time vendors will be back as well as

many, many new vendors. There will be crafts for the children to make, a food court and lots of raffle baskets. You can also have a visit with Santa. We would greatly appreciate any donation of Scratch Off Lottery Tickets or gift cards. Donations can be brought to the Preschool or left in the Rectory.

Dear Friend of Cross Road,

Our classes are underway and our mommies have been coming in every week educating themselves to improve their lives and those of their children. Living in such a fast-paced world, we are constantly on the move, and it is easy to take people around us for granted. Over the last few years there is always talk about “paying it forward.” On social media or the news, we will see mention of a person in line paying for some part of another customer’s bill. Paying it forward is something that occurs at Cross Road all the time, and it wears no shape or color. Our doorbell always rings with amazing families at our doorstep bringing donations to help our mothers. We are very blessed to live within a community whose members are always helping their neighbor to flourish. When someone comes to drop off anything, they will always say the same thing: “I know someone can use it”, “I don’t want to throw it away so I rather it went to someone else who really needs it”. Recently at the mommy store I saw a mother shopping with her daughter there. She was picking out boy’s clothing and trying to figure out sizes, so I asked if she needed help. She explained that right now her daughter was okay but she knew a teenage mom in a shelter who needed clothes for her son. She explained that she had a little extra mommy money and wanted to help her by purchasing some much-needed items. As we continued to speak she explained that she had to take the ferry into the city to help the young lady and her son. I couldn’t believe what she was explaining to me, how responsible she was. A true act of selflessness coming from someone who struggles to make ends meet herself, paying it forward. With the help of each and every HOPE donor you are paying it forward, just as my young lady was doing. Helping make a difference in another woman or child’s life. All this wouldn’t be possible without you! Thank you for the continued support which makes all our work possible. Sincerely,
