Commerce Chamber ofCommerce Mission Statement

Darrek Ferrell, City Manager Noah Nelson, Director of Community Engagement andDirector of Media Relations, Texas A&M University-Commerce

Dear Chamber Members,

If you didn’t attend the 32nd Annual Bois d’Arc Bash, you missed out on something spectacular!

With the theme “May the Bash Be With You”, the Bash parade was a hit with spectators as floats, cars, people, and even a miniature horse adorned their favorite Star Wars attire. With roughly 115 vendors, Bash goers could find a little bit of everything including a variety of food, crafts, clothing, pets, even an alligator. The music this year was phenomenal, many thanks to Ben E Keith for the stage, DB ProAudio for the sound, and The Drunken Mule Saloon for sponsoring Zane Williams.

I would like to take the opportunity to personally thank our Chamber Board members, staff and volunteers who spent countless hours ensuring the Bash went off without a hitch. Between trash runs and unwanted water in all the wrong places, Bash workers gave their all without complaint.

And to our sponsors, each of you created the success of the Bash. Thank you for giving so generously and allowing our annual Bois d’Arc Bash to grow each year. I do believe we set a standard with the 32nd Bash and cannot wait to see what the 33rd Bois d’Arc Bash has in store.

Thank you all for your part in the success of the 32nd Annual Bois d’Arc Bash. This Bash is by far, my favorite Bash of the last 10. I look forward to working with you all again in future Chamber endeavors.

Best Regards,Jeannie C. [email protected]

Tech Titans Names Texas A&M University-Commerce a finalist for the Tech Titans of the Future – University Level Award

Tech Titans, the largest technology trade organization in Texas, has named Dr. Robynne Lock and A&M-Commerce’s Studio Physics program a finalist in the Tech Titans of the Future – University Level Award category as part of the 17th Annual Tech Titans Awards.

"I am honored to be a finalist for a Tech Titans award. Working to improve my classes to have better outcomes for my students is very important to me, and it is wonderful to see Studio physics recognized," said Dr. Lock.

Studio physics is a student-centered active-learning environment in which students spend the majority of class time on group work. Activities include Tutorials in Introductory Physics, Context-rich Problems, and PhET tutorials, all research-based teaching materials. Commerce Area Alumni Chapter of Texas A&M Commerce

Tuesday, September 13 was a red letter day for Northeast Hunt County Retired Teachers. The group was welcomed as members to the Commerce Chamber of Commerce. Chamber Director Paul Voss was at the first meeting of the year and welcomed the chapter and explained the workings of the Chamber.

The director gave a brief overview and presented facts about the Chamber. He enumerated on the upcoming events for the city. The Holiday Season will be merry and bright with the parade and other events on the calendar.

The second part of the program was an inspirational and true event that happened to our University Director of Alumni Relations. Derryle Peace was a stroke victim in a precarious place. He stopped at a service station in Caddo Mills, when he really didn’t need gas, and it happened there. He was unable to speak, but he waved at a guy and he came to Derryle’s rescue. Noell Sutton, a music major at our university, was not usually in that area, but he was at that time. He called 911 and the rest is a miraculous story of the events that brought Derryle back to us. Noell’s and Derrlye’s guardian angels were on duty that day.
