PATTERN CUTTING: Use a sharp pair of fabric scissors or a rotary cutter to cut your pattern pieces. Then, use pattern weights or straight pins to secure the paper pattern pieces to your fabric. Just make sure to try and cut without lifting the pattern and fabric from your cutting table. (And don’t forget to transfer all of your markings before removing the paper!)

From each of 37 charm squares, cut:1 - 4 ½" square

From each of 4 charm squares, cut in half diagonally once to make 8 triangles

From the binding fabric, cut:3 - 2 ¼" strips

PAT T E R N I N S T R U C T I O N S

STEP 1On the backs of the 2 ½" squares, draw a diagonal line from corner to corner. Place a drawn square, right sides together on opposite corners of a 4 ½" square. Watch direction of the lines. Sew directly on the lines. Press in towards the 4 ½" square and trim the bottom two layers to ¼". Place two more drawn squares on the remaining corners, watching direction of lines. Sew directly on the line and press out. Trim the bottom two layers to ¼". Repeat to make a total of 37 square-in-a-square blocks measuring 4 ½" square.

STEP 2Sew the quilt top together using the square-in-a-square blocks and the triangles as shown. Press the rows in opposite directions and the quilt top in one direction. Suggestion: Spray some spray starch on the triangles before pressing to prevent them from stretching as they have bias edges.

STEP 3Quilt, bind and enjoy!
