QUICK SPECSSEEDBED PREPARATIONEvery farming operation has

different and diverse tillage

needs. Great Plains offers a

complete line of products to

meet those needs whether it

is conventional tillage, vertical

tillage, or some combination

of both. You can depend on

Great Plains to deliver a quality

product that is field proven and

has the reputation of being at

the “top of its class.”

NUTRIENT APPLICATIONFor maximum plant benefit,

precise placement of High

Value Nutrients is a must. By

applying nutrients at the right

time, you can virtually eliminate

leaching and denitrification.

The Great Plains Nutri-Pro® and

Sprayer lines are the perfect

solution to help you increase

utilization while reducing costs.

SEED PLACEMENTTo maximize yield, three things

must be done well: seed

spacing, seed depth, and

seed-to-soil contact without

sidewall compaction. Great

Plains Drills and Planters are

designed and built using these

principles. Again, no matter

what your farming practices,

we have the right seeding

configuration to achieve a

uniform stand in a variety of

crops. We are the seed place-

ment specialists!

QUICK SPECS

All applied N fertilizer sources eventually convert completely to the nitrate-N forms. It is in this form that it is taken up by the plant. It is also in this form that nitrate-N is at risk of leach-ing and denitrification. Application timing, temperature, and the amounts of rainfall influence the rates of both leaching and denitrification.

One strategy to manage the risk of nitrate-N loss is to make fertilizer applications in the spring just prior to planting (pre-plant), or side-dress N fertilizer after planting. The main reason that pre-plant and side-dress N applications will be more efficient is that there is a shorter “window” between applica-tion and plant needs. The shorter time period means there are fewer opportunities for heavy rainfall events and nitrate-N loss.

The other key component to a successful fertilization program is placement: positioning the fertilizer where the desired plant can easily get to it while preventing it from being wasted on weeds. Fertilizer that was applied in the fall at an angle to the spring-planted crop feeds the crop

inconsistently and also fertilizes weeds that sprout between rows. Precision placement feeds each corn or soybean plant the same and also helps keep the nutrients from being stolen by weeds.

Precision placement by Nutri-Pro Angled application

Nutri-Pro® Precision models offer a new approach to fertilizing challenges and is once again “Setting the Pace Through Innovation.” A totally new approach to fertilizer application is the 3-coulter option with a row cleaner. This option allows the producer to pre-apply liquid fertilizer (starter, high-rate, or both) prior to planting, do vertical tillage in the row, and clear the residue with a row cleaner. The result...precision-placed fertilizer in a clean, warm, fast-emerging seedbed for the planter to precisely plant the seed.

By adding an odd row, shifting the tractor over 15", and pivoting the rear caster assemblies, a 12- or 16-row 3-coulter, pre-apply unit can easily be converted to a 13- or 17-row side-dress bar.

PrecisionApplication

Nutri-Pro® Precision is semi-mounted with lift assist and can be configured with or without the two 300-gal-lon poly tanks. It is designed for precision placement of high-value nutrients. It lets farmers apply either high-rate fertilizer next to the row and/or starter fertilizer under the row as its exclusive Turbo Coulters till and clean a wide strip, creating a warm, clean seedbed your planter will love.

Nutri-Pro® Precision also features hydraulic weight transfer to ap-ply center weight to the wings for consistent depth across the entire machine width.

PUMPS - Choose variable-rate compatible with the Raven® controller and hydraulically driven Ace® pump, or ground-driven John Blue® piston pump for set-rate applications.

HYDRAULIC WEIGHT TRANSFER - Transfer valve adjusts weight from center to wings, providing even, constant down pres-sure to the full width.

ROW UNIT OPTIONS - Choose either the High-Speed Anhydrous Coulter or the Vantage 1 Liquid Fertilizer Coulter .

VARIFLOW NOZZLES - Change orifice size based on pressure to produce a constant, even supply of chemicals, regardless of the pressure (liquid models).

Vantage 1High-Speed Anhydrous

Nutri-Pro® Liquid models feature a single row of our rugged Vantage 1 Fertilizer Coul-ters. These units are available in 15", 20", or 30" row spacings, depending on the model. Liquid models are available with either a hydraulically-driven pump for variable rate application or a ground-driven piston pump for set rates. Optional row cleaners are also available.

Nutri-Pro® Anhydrous models (right) feature either high-speed coulters (available in 15" and 20" row spacings) or spring-reset shanks (available in 30" row spacings),

depending on the model, and a choice of single or double Raven® Super Coolers. Units can be set up for single-rate applica-tion. Choose from double disc or spider wheel closers. A cushioned rear hitch is also available to pull a tank, if desired.

NH3 and Liquid Nutri-Pros

SUPER COOLER - Single or double super coolers are available depending on the rate of “N” required, the temperature, and ground speed (AA models).

REAR HITCH - (Optional) A cushioned rear hitch is available to absorb shock loads when pulling large liquid or anhydrous tanks. It can also be released to allow for easier alignment and hookup.

FLOW-CONTROL VALVES - Worm gear flow-control valves on liquid models allow high volume flow and the ability to shut sections off. These state-of-the-art shutoff valves are faster and more reliable.

DISTRIBUTOR TOWERS - The stainless steel mani-fold ensures that the same amount of NH3 is given to each row. All hoses are the same length(AA models).
