During NSO, you’ll learn about... l Academics and career planning. NSO includes presentations by

professors, advising staff, and career staff—and more. You’ll meet with an academic advisor, plan your course schedule, and register for classes.

l Hoosier life. We’ll help prepare you for college with information about roommates, safety, support services, involvement, and much more.

Important to know... l Placement exams. You MUST take the required math and foreign

language placement exams online prior to NSO. They are both available now. You may also choose to take other, optional, exams for placement or possible credit. Your confirmation will include more information and deadlines.

l Housing. Your first day goes well into the evening and we don’t want you to miss a thing. Stay on campus overnight and you’ll be where the action is, including our popular NSO Late Nite, featuring the Campus Legends Tour. Your online confirmation will include a link for housing reservations as well as lodging options for parents/guests.

l Travel. Make your travel plans AFTER you receive your electronic confirmation. After May 20, watch your U.S. mail for your preparation packet with important information and your parking pass.

Here is your next step

What to expectNew Student Orientation at IU is required for all new students. Watch your email, because you’ll start with some orientation tasks before you even arrive on campus. For the most date options, make your reservation now for your two days at IU.

Make your reservation todayAs the student, YOU must be the one to make your own reservation, which includes several academic interest questions.

1. Log in to your personalized FY(Me) page at fye.indiana.edu. Follow the instructions. You’ll see only the dates available to you based on your academic program and needs. Be sure to update your profile and provide an email address for your parent or guardian.

2. You will have immediate access to your confirmation page that you can view at any time by logging into your FY(Me) page. Your confirmation includes:

• Information about your required exams.

• Instructions for other tasks you MUST complete before NSO.

• Details about travel, parking, meals, and accommodations during NSO.

• When to expect your final preparation packet and parking pass.

3. Watch your email for updates and reminders about your program.

We urge you to attend NSO during June or July. It’s the best way to register for classes and prepare for your first year at IU. If you can’t come in the summer, you will attend the late August program, just prior to Welcome Week. Look for more information at fye.indiana.edu.

Program for parentsParents and family are an important part of your IU experience and we have a program just for them. They’ll get tips for helping you make the transition to IU and will learn about the resources, programs, and support in place for your success. We recommend that at least one parent attends NSO with you.

We can help you organize the rest, including completing pre-NSO-related online tasks and financial forms, setting up your email, and preparing for your course registration. FeesThe 2016 Orientation/First Year Experience fee has been set by the IU Board of Trustees at $151.98. This non-refundable fee will not be charged until your first IU tuition and fees billing. There is an additional program fee for family/guests attending New Student Orientation ($30 for the first person; $15 for each additional person) which may also be added to your first IU bill.
