    Conducted in October 2006

    Summary Data

    The following is a summary of some key findings from the NPI Readiness Assessment Survey.

    More detailed information from the survey will be presented during a WEDI sponsored NPI audio

    cast that is scheduled on December 7, 2006.

    General Information

    There were 480 validated survey responses. The responses were

    categorized into the following groups:

    Provider Findings

    1. Ability to send NPI only on an 837 Professional Claima) 6% of providers are able to send NPI only today

    b) 51% expect to send NPI only prior to 3/31/07

    c) 39% expect to send NPI only between 4/1/07 and 5/23/07

    d) 10% will not be ready until 5/23/07 or did not respond to the question

    2. Ability to send NPI only on an 837 Institutional Claim

    a) 3% of providers are able to send NPI only todayb) 44% expect to send NPI only prior to 3/31/07

    c) 37% expect to send NPI only between 4/1/07 and 5/23/07

    d) 18% will not be ready until 5/23/07 or did not respond to the question
