(The City will repay the loan over 10 years, at an interest rate of 2.44 percent.) By Dave Taylor In a brief meeting lasting just more than 15 minutes, the Hawesville city council met last Tuesday for its regu- larly scheduled meeting. Matt Curtis, a represen- tative from Kentucky Engi- neering Group, told the council that the sewer plant repair was completed, and that the sewer plant was op- erating at its full ef ficiency again. In other business: • The council approved the minutes of the Oct. 14 meeting • The council voted to pay the bills Police chief Buz Baskett gave his monthly repor t, showing 36 traffic stops, 3 motor vehicle acci- dents, one juvenile call, one domestic, one theft and one forgery. • Baskett also told the council that he had met with an accreditation inspector to get the department up to spec, which will help lower homeowners’ insurance. • Fire chief Matt Husk gave his monthly report and said runs are staying right around average • Mayor Rita Stephens announced that the city’s Christmas parade will be December 6 at 1:00 p.m. and will include the Ft. Knox band. The city will be doing the bike giveaways for chil- dren as well, through com- munity donations and with the Farm Store selling the bikes at cost and assembling them for the city. —————————— Hawesville council hears good news on the sewer plant Health survey to be conducted in Hancock County The Green River Dis- trict Health Department (GRDHD), accompanied by officials from the Cen- ters for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Kentucky Department for Public Health (KDPH) will be in the following counties conducting a health survey to residents November 21 st and 22 nd : Daviess, Hancock, Hender- son, McLean, Ohio, Webster, and Union. “This is a great opportu- nity for our area and an im- portant chance for us to gauge our community’s views and opinions on what is important for their health and quality of life. We are excited to get out and talk to the residents and hope they are willing to give us just a few min- utes of their time to help with this important study,” said Deborah Fillman, Pub- lic Health Director.
