Reason and PrerequisitesThis Note applies to the following procedures:

Released for customers: Conversion after Upgrade to at least Web AS6.20 (separate procedures)

o Conversion of SAP MDMP Systems (Web AS 6.20 and higher) to Unicode

o Conversion of SAP Ambiguous Blended Code Page Systems (Web AS 6.20and higher) to Unicode

These procedures are described in the "Unicode Conversion Guide" which ispublished individually per SAP_Basis Release/Support Package. See section'Required Readings' in this Note for details.

This Note does not apply to the following procedures:

o Conversion of SAP Single Code Page Systems (Web AS 6.20 and higher)to Unicode

Please refer to SAP Note 1051576.

o Combined Upgrade & Unicode Conversion (CU&UC)

Please refer to SAP Note 928729 for information about CU&UC.

o Twin Upgrade & Unicode Conversion (TU&UC)

Please refer to SAP Note 959698 for information about TU&UC.

o New installation of SAP Unicode Systems

Required Readings

A Unicode Conversion is done as part of a standard system copy. Therefore,

you need the Homogeneous and Heterogeneous System Copy Guide and theInstallation Guide for your release/SAP solution in addition to the UnicodeConversion Guide. The Unicode Conversion Guide refers to the System CopyGuide wherever needed.Read the complete Unicode Conversion Guide (UCG) before starting to preparethe conversion procedure. You can download the applicable document versionfrom the Note attachments. If you need additional documentation, overviewpresentations, other help material, Unicode-related SAP Notes and usefullinks as well as information about current developments, please refer tothe Unicode section on SDN.

Note: Starting with SAPKB62062/SAPKB64021/SAPKB70015 the Unicode ConversionGuide is valid only for MDMP and Ambiguous Blended Code Page systems. ForSingle Code Page systems there is a separate documentation available (seeSAP Note 1051576).

Minimum Support Package levelYou must apply at least the following Support Packages for the UnicodeConversion:SAPKB62062SAPKB64021SAPKB70015SAPKB70103However, as the conversion tools are still being improved, SAP stronglyrecommends you to apply the newest available Support Package of yourrelease.In addition, the UCG documents are being revised and republished attachedto this SAP Note on a regular basis. Please make sure you download thenewest document version before you start the actual conversion process.
