A pro-rated refundwill be issued based upon the number of classes attended. Thereis no refund given after the activity if finished because your childdidn’t participate.
Registration PolicyRegistration for our programs shall be for a minimum of tenbusiness days. The Norwalk Parks and Recreation Departmentshall establish the beginning and ending dates for registration.Registration dates will be publicized in our brochure, N/WarrenTown and County News, Norwalk Living magazine and the Cityof Norwalk website. Where there are a maximum number ofparticipants listed, participation will be determined on a firstcome, first serve basis. Team Assignment for YouthSports Policy
Children will be placed on teams in a random manner with theexception of children living in the same household. Parents ofchildren living in the same household may request their childrenbe assigned to the same team, providing the children are in thesame age division. To align teams fairly, volunteer coaches maypick one assistant. If a program needs more than two coachesper team, the Parks and Recreation Department will assign theadditional assistant from names of volunteers appearing on theregistration forms.
Definition of a FamilyFor the purpose of purchasing family pool passes, or receivinga family discount for our Tae Kwon Do program, a family isdefined as all immediate family members residing at the samestreet address. This would include children of divorced parentswho have joint custody, stepchildren, and foster children.Babysitters, cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and ex-spousesare not considered immediate family members unless theyappear on the same federal income tax return.
VandalismEach year Norwalk taxpayers must cover the cost of repairingand replacing park facilities that have been willfully damagedor destroyed. Since the parks are unsupervised, it is difficult forpark staff to catch the vandals who cause this damage. You canassist by reporting any act of vandalism to the Norwalk Parksand Recreation Department at 981-9206 or the Norwalk PoliceDepartment at 222-3321. Violators will be prosecuted.

City Dog LicensesNorwalk’s four legged furry friends don’t always obey theirmasters. Wondering dogs sometimes become a nuisance to otherswho don’t show the same kind of love for pets as you do. For thatreason residents of Norwalk need to license their dog’s every yearat City Hall to ensure a safe return back to their owner and alsoto verify the dog’s rabies vaccinations are current. The licensingrenewal period begins January 1 and runs through the end ofMarch. After April 1, a late fee will be assessed on all licensesrenewed after this date. If the police/city has to pick up your pet, there is a $75 impound fee (1st offense) to get it released back toyou. For more information, contact Norwalk City Hallat 981-0228.

Resident/Non-Resident PolicyA resident is any person who lives within the city limits ofNorwalk. This is not to be confused with the school district. Cityand School District boundaries are not the same. Even thoughyour mailing address is Norwalk, this does not necessarily meanyou are a city resident. Most programs/classes have different feesfor residents and nonresidents.
City of Norwalk residents make a significant contribution to thefinancing and operation of the Norwalk Parks and RecreationDepartment through city property taxes. These taxes are paidwhether or not individuals participate in programs or use facilities. To ensure equality, non-residents (those living outside the citylimits) will be charged a non-resident fee in addition to theprogram or facility fee.

Fused glass is glass that has been fired and involves stacking, orlayering thin sheets of glass, often using different colors to create
patterns or simple images. The stack is then placed inside the kiln and then heated through a series of rampsand soaks until the separate pieces begin to bond together. Once the desired effect has been achieved at themaximum desired temperature, the kiln temperature will be brought down quickly. The glass is then allowedto cool slowly over a specified time, soaking at specified temperature ranges. We will make two projectsand then have it fired off location.Must be 18 yrs or older.
