Day 1/2: Fly UK To New Zealand

Day 3: Auckland - Collect car hire

Day 4: Auckland – Rotorua (370km) Travel south over the Bombay Hills and through the lush Waikato pasturelands. At Waitomo, tour the subterranean caves by boat. Travel across the Waikato River and the Mamaku Hills to the famous geothermal centre of Rotorua.

Day 5: Rotorua (30 km). Sightseeing tour. Your package includes admission to the Te Puia Thermal Reserve, Rainbow Springs, the Agrodome Leisure Park, a gondola cable car ride to the Skyline Skyrides complex, and the Polynesian Spa.Day 6: Rotorua - Wellington (465 km) - Travel south via Lake Taupo, passing through the World Heritage Tongariro National Park, where volcanic mountains dominate the scenery.

Day 7: Wellington (50km) - Day at leisure

Day 8: Wellington - Picton - Christchurch (370km) Return your car prior to joining to the Interisland Ferry to cruise the Cook Strait. Connect with the Tranz Coastal train which journeys via Kaikoura Christchurch.

Day 9: Christchurch - Greymouth (250 km) This morning transfer to the train station. Take the Tranz Alpine Express through the rugged Southern Alps to Greymouth, a journey revealing breathtaking views (Includes self-drive passengers). On arrival, collect your rental car.

Day 10: Greymouth to West Coast Glaciers (205km) A full day to continue southwards, following the coast to reach Westland National Park and enjoy the magnificent glaciers. This afternoon, enjoy a guided walk to the Glacier Terminal.

Day 11: West Coast Glaciers to Queenstown (420km) Today, see some of the most beautiful scenery in New Zealand. Travel over the Haast Pass and through the silver beech forests of Mt Aspiring National Park, past Lake Wanaka and along the Kawarau Gorge to Queenstown.

Day 12: Queenstown - Day at Leisure

Day 13: Queenstown - Milford Sound - Te Anau (420km) Follow Lake Wakatipu via Kingston, arriving in Te Anau for a morning tea break. Follow the shores of Lake Te Anau before entering the Eglington Valley. Pass the mirror lakes and travel through the avenue of the disappearing mountain. A fascinating launch cruise to Bowen Falls and Mitre Peak is included. Later today return by coach to Te Anau.

Day 14: Te Anau - Invercargill (160km) This morning depart for Invercargill, the southernmost city of New Zealand. On arrival in Invercargill, self drive travellers will join a coach tour of New Zealand’s Southernmost city. Highlights include historic and heritage buildings, churches, Queens Park, civic amenities, gardens, residential areas and Oreti Beach.

Day 15: Invercargill – Dunedin (220km) Continue to Dunedin, first settled by the Scottish and renowned as the “Edinburgh of the South”.

Day 16: Dunedin - Christchurch (365km) Morning at leisure before you head north to to Christchurch via Moeraki, Oamaru and Timaru.

Day 17: Christchurch (10km) Return your rental car at the airport. Fly Christchurch to UK.

Day 18: Arrive UK.
