Background on the event

The UK Energy Day 2011 at London Metropolitan University is part of an European network of events led by the Intelligent Energy Agency of the European Commis-sion. The event will promote the awareness of the signifi cance of sustainable energy supply, particularly the need to balance home-grown energy and energy imports. During the day, talks and demonstrations will take place to increase awareness of sustain-able methods of energy production at the global, regional, local and industrial levels.

Aims

The aims of the UK Energy Day atLondon Metropolitan University are:

i) To effectively communicate new ideas about sustainable energy supply;

ii) To achieve maximum penetra-tion of new and novel ideas to key decision-makers in busi-ness and government;

iii) To promote new investment opportunities for a sustainable energy system;

iv) To showcase the latest inno-vations in energy technology, policy and practice.

Moreover, the event will offer a good opportunity for contact exchange and networking among individuals and organisations work-ing in the energy fi eld.

Who can take part The event will primarily target lead-ers in government, civil society,business, research institutions and the general public who are inter-ested in aspects of energy supply, energy use, energy effi ciency and renewable energy. A summary of the Seminar and its presentations will be widely disseminated afterwards.

About the organisers

The UK Energy Day 2011 at London Metropolitan University is organised by the Centre for Inter-national Business and Sustaina-bility (CIBS) at London Metropolitan Business School. CIBS is a research centre which contributes a distinc-tive voice by bringing together re-searchers from economics, com-putational economics, science and policy analysis to explore what we call the ‘Sustainability World‘.

CIBS core researchareas are:

i) Energy and Investment;ii) Ethics and Philosophy;iii) Climate Change and

Environment;iv) Governance and Policy.

Together with the global transformations:
