  • Habitat

  • Deciduous trees are homes for Goshawks. Deciduous trees lose their leaves in the winter.

  • Goshawks can live in coniferous forests. Coniferous trees are homes to the Goshawk.

  • Diet

  • The Goshawk eats reptiles like, snakes, frogs, turtles.

  • Northern Goshawks eat mammals like deer and jackrabbits.

  • The Goshawk eats many kinds of birds like crows and blue jays.

  • The Goshaw eats lots of insects like ladybugs, ants, bees and caterpillars.

  • Nest/Egg Facts

  • Goshawks try to pick the biggest tree to build their nest. After they pick the location, they gather materials like leaves and sticks.

  • The Goshawk lays 2-4 white eggs. The nesting period is 34-35 days.

  • Appearance

  • The Northern Goshawk are big hawks. They have big rounded wings and long tails.

  • Behavior

  • Northern Goshawks are very fast animals. Northern Goshawks are also are warm blooded.

  • Northern goshawks are so aggressive they kill things that could hurt their babies.

  • Conservation

  • One reason why the northern goshawk species was endangered is because people have been cutting down trees.

  • The next reason the Goshawk is endangered is because they were once shot and trapped. They got shot and trapped because farmers thought Goshawks were eating their chickens.

  • Other Interesting Facts

  • Females are larger than males. So the females warm the eggs while the male gos to get food.
