Why are we here?
The objectives of the Biosolids Upgrade Project are:
• Sludge Production : Increase solids process capacity from an
average of 40 to 70 dry tonne/day by 2043
• Improve biosolids quality from Grade B4 to Grade B2 to
ensure ongoing 100% beneficial reuse of biosolids
• Improve Reliability : Remove or reduce risks associated with
single points of failure in the process and improve reliability
Project Timeline
Needs Approval Business Case completed (December 2015)
Concept design completed (November 2017)
Review of Environmental Factors on public display (April 2018)
Delivery Approval Business Case approved by Board (December 2018)
Request for Tender released (February 2019)
Contract awarded (August 2019)
Stage 1 on track to be completed (December 2019)
Construction completed (2022)

Stage 1 – Front End Engineering and Design
Currently, reviewing options and scoping to develop the maximum
target cost (MTC) for approval
• Next two months, a series of optioneering workshops between
project team and production team to develop solution to meet objective and finalise MTC
• Obtain Approval to proceed from Sydney Water Managing Director
