NORPLAN Tanzania Ltd (NORPLAN) is a multidisciplinary firm that was established in

2005. It is registered with Engineers Registration Board as a Local Consulting Company under

Registration Number LCF 092. NORPLAN is a member of Association of Consulting Engineers

Tanzania (ACET) hence directly affiliated with FIDIC. The firm is therefore an independent

operation, with no interests in any manufacturing or contracting organizations or any other

business that is likely to create conflict of interest with projects of our Clients. Our impartiality

guarantees an objective level of professional advice.

NTL majority shareholding is held by Tanzanian Engineers who have been running the

activities of NORPLAN in Tanzania in the last decade. This arrangement confirms NORPLANs

strategy of being a serious partner in the consulting business and wants to contribute to the

rapid economic and social development in Tanzania.

NORPLANs Engineers are registered with relevant engineering bodies to confirm their

qualification, experience and adherence to ethics as guided by these bodies. They are also

registered by ERB either as Professional Engineers or Consulting Engineers.

Introduction

NORPLAN provides hands-on experience from implementing water

and sanitation projects. The company has accumulated their own lessons

learned with respect to institutional development, facilitation and

of Sam Nujoma Road (3.9 Km) to Dual Carriage WayWidening

The Sam Nujoma Road is Widened from a two lane single carriage way to a two way

four lane dual carriage way. The road is also crossing on one Sinza bridge that has a span of

14m and a width of 30m. The bridge is constructed to accommodate four lanes dual carriage

way and two extra lanes in the middle to cater for future accommodation of fast moving

passenger vehicles.

NORPLAN Tanzania was responsible for Supervision of the construction works. The team

reviewed the documents, supervised the construction of the road and bridge and provided

management and administration of the project during and after completion of the

construction work.

rvision of Cement Production Line for Twiga CementConstruction Sup

The project involves construction of the TPCC Morden complete new cement

production line (PL4). There will be the following packages namely clinker production,

cement grinding, packing/dispatch plant and crusher/screening plant. The works includes

Engineering, procurement, design, civil works, steel structure, manufacture, deliveries,

contractors equipment, construction, erection and testing, commissioning and guarantee

tests, commissioning and supply of spare parts and staff training

Main tasks performed by NORPLAN were survey works, subsoil investigation, drawing

review for conformity with TZ and client requirements, earthworks, machine foundations,

concrete silos erection, steel structure supports erection, support columns and beams for

structures, quality management, health and safety, reporting system, time management,

cal Engineering - Kigamboni BridgeGeotechni

The proposed bridge will be constructed in the Kurasini area just near the Tanzania

Harbours Authority connecting Dar es Salaam's CBD to Kigamboni peninsula.

The project will include construction of two reinforced concrete pylons of a cable stayed

bridge with centre span of 250meter and total bridge length of 680meter, installation of wax

coated stay cables including anchorages. The bridge construction will also include construction

of Six (6) lanes dual carriageway with two (2) sidewalks pre-stressed box girder concrete deck

and construction of six (6) lanes dual carriageway to bitumen standard approach roads of

about 2.5 kilometer. The bridge will be executed under the build, operate and transfer (BOT)

scheme.

NORPLAN Tanzania has been sub-contracted by ACE to carry out Geotechnical and

topographic survey, Hydrographic survey and Bathometric survey.

Village Electrification Scheme (WVES)Wayleave

As part of mitigation measures for Songo Songo gas development project, four

settlements along the gas pipeline Wayleave will be provided with electricity generated using

Songo Songo gas. The settlements are Bungu, Kibiti, Ikwiriri and Utete. An 8 MW Power

station has been installed at Somanga village South of Dar es Salaam. Together with the Power

Station, 33 kV lines and Low Voltage lines with associated civil and structural works have been

designed and installed in the project area. Total Length of the lines (transmission and

distribution) is about 250 km.

NORPLAN was involved as main consultants from inception, design, preparation of tender

documents and construction supervision. NORPLAN has also carried out environmental

impact assessment as well as institutional set up.

Government Training Institute Hombolo, Dodoma

The buildings were two storey framed structures comprising two lecture theatres to

accommodate 250 students each, hostels and a store cum office building. The activities

include also external parkings and roads including clean and foul water systems.

NORPLAN Tanzania was responsible for Structural, Electrical and Mechanical design

activities, Supervision of the construction works and Contract administration.

istrict Water Supply ProjectMonduli

The project has two major components; Construction Supervision and Project

Management Support and Training. Under these components, the project will ensure that the

populations of 18 villages and two small town settlements have adequate and sustainable

access to safe, adequate and reliable drinking water, enhanced awareness of sanitation and

health, and year round availability of water for livestock. The key objective of this

consultancy is to provide construction supervision services of water facilities and the necessary

support to the PIT at all stages of project implementation and general and specific project

management support and expert inputs to the Project Implementation Team (PIT) to facilitate

efficient implementation of the project.

rt Upgrade WorksMtwara P

This project follows the requirement of an onshore supply base to support the

exploratory program and future operations by Ophir Energy and other operators; Petrobras

and possibly Statoil, oil companies who have other concessions in Tanzania, will join Ophir

Energy in funding and using the supply base.

The supply base is located at the existing Mtwara Port in southern Tanzania and the project

consists of mud, bulk mud and the cement plants, water storage tank and piping for drill

water to the supply vessel, office modifications and water treatment.

NORPLAN was responsible for the detailed survey, design and construction supervision for

the Structural Civil, Electrical and Mechanical services for the entire upgrade work covering

fire fighting installations, power and lighting, foundations and structural elements of the

plant, structural modifications to the warehouse and general pavement to the roadways.

The project involved construction supervision of the New Ruvu Bridge (135m span) and

its approaching roads (700m) both sides. The bridge was constructed on two piers and two

abutments that rest on 900mm diameter piles.

NORPLAN Tanzania supervised construction of the New Ruvu Bridge and its approaching

roads. The team reviewed the documents, supervised the construction of the bridge and

approach roads. The team also provided management and administration of the project

during and after construction of the bridge

For Our Lady Queen Of Peace Educational CenterProposed

An extensive building construction project of the proposed USD 3 Mil. Training centre

to be accomplished in three phases. The center, to be owned and funded by the Catholic

Fathers, will encompass Classrooms, Lecture theatre, Science laboratory, library, Cafeteria,

Multipurpose Hall, Kitchen, Four storey Boys and Girls dormitory, Senior and storey ordinary

staff houses, sports facilities, health center, retreat houses, Administration blocks and a Church,

all in one compound for an intended secondary school and College in the outskirts of

Dodoma Municipality. NORPLAN has provided all building services consultancy works.
