Since 2008, NLGX operates a flagship store in Beijing’s famous Nanluoguxiang Creative Neighborhood to showcase, market test, and sell its original design products, as well as to act as a primary branding and marketing platform.

NLGX is the first original design brand to open at Beijing Capital Airport, with branded stores at both Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 (international departures). NLGX is also the first of its kind to introduce a “To Go” retail store con-cept in Beijing, with custom-designed gift packaging and supermarket-style “To Go” shelving.

NLGX also expanded its reach at Terminal 3 and opened up pop-up locations in other gift stores inside inter-national departures, to offer a selected collection of Hoodies, Recycled Bags, design accessories and memory foam travel pillows. In May 2014, NLGX started a 9 months pop-up store in Beijing’s iconic Parkview Green mall. Inspired by Asia’s famous street markets, this pop-up features a customized and re-purposed “mianbaoche” van and a 3-meter tall steel tree to display NLGX’s most favourite apparel, bags and accessories.

In 2014/15 NLGX opened temporary pop-up locations at 2 highend Japanese department stores at Takashimaya, Shanghai and Isetan Tianjin. It was the first time for NLGX to open in those 2 markets.

Beijing Cultural Heritage Protection Center is a grassroots Chinese NGO helping communi-ties protect their cultural heritage through civil society building, ethnic minority revitalization and media mobilization.

JUE Music + Art is an independent urban arts and music festival in Beijing and Shanghai.

Modern Sky is a Chinese record label and also the organizer of the Modern Sky music festival, one of the biggest outdoor festivals for rock music in China.

NLGX was founded by Ed and Michel - two entrepreneurs who have lived in Beijing in the tumultuous years leading up to the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Witnessing first-hand the changes of China’s ancient capital city, the two friends and co-founders decided to capture the new spirit of the city and their experiences as overseas Chinese living in Beijing with a fresh, lifestyle brand that is unique to the time and to the place in China’s development. The two co-founders were born in the USA and Germany, respectively, but share a common passion that is NLGX.
