From Head Teacher - Ms. Sue Hill

Dear Parents, This week we said goodbye to one of our guards, Mr Minh, who has worked at the TX campus for over 7 years. Not only has Mr Minh helped keep us all safe by diligently guarding our campus, he is also an accomplished musician. In assembly, last Friday he played a wonderful piece on the classical guitar. The staff at TX presented Mr Minh with a gift, another musical instrument - a mandolin. Mr Minh astonished us all by playing the mandolin at the end of assembly. We all wish Mr Minh the very best as he starts on his new venture…the opening of a shop selling instruments in the Mekong Delta.

Mr Ian and I are attending school inspector training today and this weekend but will be back in the TX campus on Monday.

Musical Coffee Morning

TX Musical Coffee Morning 2014

On Wednesday, we held the Musical Coffee Morning in the foyer at TX. 66 talented children from Year 1 - 6 took to the stage and sang or played their hearts out to all the parents, teachers and children watching. I'm very proud of everyone who performed, as they showed real courage and skill. The children’s wonderful per-formances were the result of hard work and determination learning musical pieces and arrangements at home. I would also like to thank the parents for all their help and guidance with the children’s musical education. To see more photos and videos from the event please visit the TX music blog www.xmusic2014-2015.blogspot.com

On the 8th October 2014, 11 children from PDV visited Y6. We all worked

together to learn new things and skills, for example, playing with Lego, making movies, doing arts and crafts and being Vietnam tour guides using the laptops. The children from PDV took turns on each activity. Most of us were a little nervous at first but when we got to know each other we felt much more comfortable and really enjoyed the activities. We all had smiles on our faces throughout the afternoon. After having a full rotation of all activities, we came back together to watch a few of the movie trailers we had created. We were really excited to see ourselves on the big screen. After that we all got together to take a photo. When it was time for them to leave, the PdV children got to take home a guide of Vietnam, an origami fortune teller, a jumping paper frog and most important of all… we all have GREAT MEMORIES! Eco-School

First meeting of TX Eco-Schools Committee This week, TX held the first meeting of the Eco-Schools Committee. Student and teacher repre-sentatives of the different school communities were present: Eco-Warriors (JB and Ms. Heather) Eco-Scouts (Daniel and Ms. Jane) Schools Council (Naomi)

TX will submit its application for the Green Flag this year, and the group dis-cussed the different things that we have to do in order to make sure that we are the first school in Vietnam to get this award. Energy month, to be held in November, is one of the exciting campaigns that we will be hold-ing to help us get that award. The Eco-Warriors will tell us more about that next week, so get ready.

The U11 TX Badminton squad took part in a tournament against AP1 on Wednesday 8th October.
