Dark spots, age spots, sun spots – what IS pigmentation? You may not have deep frown lines or crow's feet, but if you feel like you're ageing, chances are it's thanks to uneven skin tone. Until recent years the only way to really treat pigmentation was with lasers, which are a good option for some but come with many drawbacks. Laster treatment is expensive, can cause a lot of down-time and the problem can come back. They only work on light skins. As the seasons change, so do your skincare needs. When the weather transitions from summer into autumn, you will need to modify more than your work attire. Using the same products year-round will not yield the results you crave. So grab a few PENS and jot down these simple steps below that will help you achieve healthy, glowing skin during the colder months ahead. ● Purify. Summer months often require a more heavy-duty cleanser to rid the skin of excess oils. However, as the weather cools, oil production will diminish often resulting in increased dryness for some. Skin-needling procedures are performed in a safe and precise manner with the use of the sterile DermaPen needle head. The treatment takes 1 hour - the micro-needling takes 20 minutes, consultation and preparation the balance. Before the procedure the skin is cleansed and prepared with a light glycolic AHA peel and exfoliation. A topical local numbing cream is applied. During the micro-needling your therapist gently moves the DermaPen over the skin to create miniscule sub-cutaneous channels. This is perceived by the body as a mini wound. After the needling a calming fleece mask is applied to cool, relax and calm the skin. Immediately post treatment skin will be red, but this diminishes within a few hours.
