Volunteers needed Easter Sunday: April 5th Special Kids' Program at 9:00 or 10:30: Christ the Passover Lamb

We'll have two services on Easter Sunday, which means two hours of Sunday School at 9:00

and 10:30. We need to double our team to provide coverage for both hours and welcome

visitors! We have a great program planned that will allow you to see Easter through the eyes of

    a child.

This year we will celebrate "Christ the Passover lamb" through an interactive experience that

will tie together the Old Testament lessons we're been studying about the Exodus with the

Christian declaration of Jesus as the Passover Lamb. We will eat special foods that will help us

remember both how God delivered Israel in Egypt, and how God through Jesus Christ has

delivered the whole world from slavery to sin and death. We will celebrate with food, song,

    crafts and more!

Helpers are needed for this special program: you can serve either hour (9:00 or 10:30) with

nursery, preschool or gradeschool. Or help behind the scenes setting up the meal and craft or

making haroset (a sort of apple salad) for the Passover celebration. If you can help one of the

two services, please email Vikki at [email protected].

Soupcan Offering for Covenant World Relief

Return your bank on Palm Sunday, March 29th

During March PCC kids' ministry will be collecting money for Covenant World

Relief, which teams with our ministry partners in the developing world to help

fund community development projects in places of need around the world.

Pick up a calendar in the children's classrooms with activities your family can

do each day to learn about those global needs and set aside money to help. The

lid & label attached to the calendar can be used to turn an ordinary soupcan

into a bank. Return your bank on Palm Sunday, March 29th

    Door of Hope birthday Club2.0!

    Open to all-ages

2nd Monday 5:30-6:30pm Our ministry to Door of Hope has been reconfigured to better meet their needs. We'll now be

partnering with the afterschool program to provide a simple kids-only dinner (think: pizza!)

and cupcakes each month to celebrate the kids' birthdays. Our team members will volunteer

to serve approx. 4 months out of the year, providing either the cupcakes or the pizza/meal.

This fun ministry is open to all ages, including kids, so is one your whole family can

participate in together. Door of Hope is a program for families transitioning out of

homelessness. If you'd like to join this amazing team for a really FUN ministry, contact Vikki

    Randall at [email protected].

    Journey to the Cross

For 1st-5th graders Sundays at 9:00 am beginning Feb. 15

    Fellowship Hall

    Led by Ashley Thaxton

Journey to the Cross is a great way for gradeschoolers to prepare for Lent and Easter in a fun,

interactive way. This year Ashley Thaxton will be leading the kids in a program using

movement, drama and drums to prepare a cool visual representation of the themes we'll be

studying during Lent. The kids will be presenting their piece as part of the worship service on

Easter Sunday (April 5th). Join us Sundays at 9:00am in the Fellowship Hall (basement under

the sanctuary). There will be no Edge during Lent so the older kids can be a part of this

program. Adult helpers are neededemail Vikki at [email protected] to help

one or more Sundays. (Continued on next page)

    Journey to the Promised Land

Sunday mornings at 10:30 for Kids:

This year's theme for our Kids' programs is Journey to the Promised Land: Jesus is our Hope. We are focusing on Old Testament stories of the people of God journeying to the promised land. In those stories we find our own journey of hope following Jesus to the promised Kingdom. All grade levels (2 years thru 5th grade) will focus on the same biblical narrative each week, so families can follow up at home with your own conversations about our journey.

During March we will begin the story of Moses and God's deliverance of His people from slavery in Egypt. The story will culminate on Easter Sunday when we talk about the Lamb of God and connect God's deliverance of Israel with God's great rescue plan to deliver the entire earth from our slavery to sin and death.

Ideas for following up at home:

    1. Find Israel and Egypt on a map. Help kids trace the journey Joseph took to help kids connect this story to real, historical places.

    2. Pray for peace in the Middle East as the countries there continue to struggle with age-old conflicts.

    3. As we prepare for the story of the Passover on Easter Sunday, talk about foods our family uses to celebrate and remember special events: birthday cakes, valentine's candy, etc. Come up with a new food to symbolize something special that only your family will know.

    4. Go for a walk around your neighborhood and look for signs of the coming Spring: blades of green grass, flower buds, birds' nests. Talk about finding hope for new life in the middle of winter. Make a nature collage of some of the things you found.

Mighty Memorizers New to our kids' program this year is Bible memory. Memorizing portions of Scripture is one of the ways we "hide God's word in our hearts", allowing it to sink in and nourish our souls. We encourage families to learn these verses together, with our preschoolers learning a shorter version and our gradeschoolers (Logosland) learning the full text and reference. At the end of the year we will have a special celebration to honor all our memorizers.

The March verse is: Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! - John 1:29

    Recycle outgrown toys!

Are you cleaning out your closets to make room for all those new Christmas toys? PCC Kids Ministries can use the ones your kids have outgrown! We are in need of used toys in good condition for 4-6 year olds, particularly: dress up clothes, legos, hot wheels cars & tracks, and baby dolls. Drop them off in the basket in the Narthex or bring them to the main office during normal business hours (M-F 9am - 3:00pm).
