Holy Rosary Strategic Planning Process

In September of 2018, Holy Rosary Par-ish Leadership, including key staff, commission members and council representatives, spent a morning discerning the needs of our parish. This took place after months of brainstorming and preparation in their individual work groups. With the help of a facilitator, 70 staff and parish-ioners, representing our parish leadership, engaged in a SWOT Analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Oppor-tunities, and Threats) of Holy Rosary Parish. Results of this exercise were then entrusted to a Strategic Planning Committee tasked with further refining the parish leadership’s input into a plan for the future.

In January of this year, the Strategic Planning Committee was established. In their deliberations, assistance was provided by a facilitation team from the University of Southern Indiana Center for Ap-plied Research. What followed was four months of taxing discernment that gave way to some clear direc-tion for the immediate future. Here are the three top Goals that emerged from the process:

First Strategic Initiative: “Encourage our people to make the life of our church a priority through meaningful engagements.”

Second Strategic Initiative: “Create more meaningful encounters and opportunities to connect diverse groups as one community.”

Third Strategic Initiative: “Facilitate a personal experience with Christ.”

On Saturday, September 14th, the Parish Lead-ership will again gather for a morning of prayer and planning. The task of our group will include develop-ment of objectives to meet the First Strategic Initia-tive in the year ahead. As parish staff, commissions, and councils vision for the future, their focus will be guided by an intention to incorporate the strategic plan in their area of parish outreach.

Next year, the Second Strategic Initiative will be engaged in the planning process of parish leader-ship. The following year of parish planning will be animated by the Third Strategic Initiative. It will be exciting to see how the direction of our parish will be shaped by the fruits of this Strategic Planning Pro-cess.

Please note that as our parish leadership em-barks upon implementing these strategic initiatives, in an effort to enrich the mission and ministry of our church, our hope is for full and active participation of our parish community. May the Lord bless and ani-mate the efforts of all of us to build up the Kingdom of God in our midst.

“Proceso de la Planeación Estratégica”

En septiembre de 2018, el liderazgo de la parroquia Holy Rosary, incluido los miembros del personal, los miembros de las diferentes comisiones y los representantes del Consejo Pastoral, pasaron una mañana discerniendo las necesidades de nuestra parroquia. Esto tuvo lugar después de meses de lluvia de ideas y preparación en sus grupos de trabajo

Sur de Indiana proporcionó asistencia. Luego de cuatro

meses de exigente discernimiento que dieron paso a una

dirección clara para el futuro inmediato, se llegó a estos tres

objetivos principales:

Primera iniciativa estratégica:

"Alentar a nuestra gente a hacer de la vida de

nuestra iglesia una prioridad a través de

compromisos significativos".

Segunda iniciativa estratégica:

"Crear encuentros y oportunidades más

significativos para conectar diversos grupos como

una sola comunidad".

Tercera Iniciativa Estratégica:

"Facilitar una experiencia personal con Cristo".

El sábado 14 de septiembre, el liderazgo parroquial

se reunirá nuevamente para una mañana de Oración y

Planificación. La tarea de nuestro grupo incluirá el desarrollo

de objetivos para cumplir con la Primera Iniciativa

Estratégica en el próximo año. Como visión del personal de la

parroquia, las comisiones y los consejos para el futuro, su

enfoque se guiará por la intención de incorporar el plan

estratégico en su área de alcance parroquial.

El próximo año, la Segunda Iniciativa Estratégica se

dedicará al proceso de planificación del liderazgo parroquial.

El año siguiente de planificación parroquial estará animado

por la Tercera Iniciativa Estratégica. Será emocionante ver

cómo los frutos de este Proceso de Planificación Estratégica

moldearán la dirección de nuestra parroquia.

A medida que nuestro liderazgo parroquial se embarca en la implementación de estas iniciativas estratégicas, en un esfuerzo por enriquecer la misión y el ministerio de nuestra iglesia, nuestra esperanza es la participación plena y activa de nuestra comunidad parroquial. Anointing of the Sick: October 12-13

Before winter weather sets in, we invite you to bring loved ones to Church for this sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick. This will be offered by Fr. Bernie and Fr. Martin after each of the Mass-es on Oct. 12 and 13. Keep in mind that anyone who experiences illness is free to come for this special blessing. Meanwhile, let us hold in our prayer those of our Church family---and beyond-- who are ill. If you/family member/neighbor is not able to come to Church for this anointing, please call the office at 812-477-8923 to make other arrangements for this sacra-ment.

Adoration Chapel — Prayer Hour

Our new Nativity Chapel is a beautiful place of prayer. And, a regularly scheduled prayer hour of Adoration with the Blessed Sacrament is available to you. Holy Rosary has held Adora-tion for many years here at the parish praying for the needs of our church, the needs of fami-lies and friends, and the needs of our world. Would you consider joining the parish for an hour of quiet prayer? We think you’ll be blessed by this time of prayer ---and so will many others, thanks to you! Grief Support Luncheon 3rd Wednesday of the Month

Aug. 21, Sept. 18 and Oct. 16 are the upcoming dates that we will host a Grief Support Luncheon here in the Parish Hall. Lunch is served at 11:30 with time follow-ing for prayer and guided conversation. Anyone who is dealing with the death of a loved one is invited to this gathering where you will find a supportive community that welcomes and cares about you. Welcome Fr. Martín Estrada to Holy Rosary

as our Associate Pastor! I am Father Martin Estrada. I was born in a small town of San Julian, Jalisco, Mexico on July 17 of 1983. I was born and raised on my parent’s farm. I am the youngest son of a family of ten siblings: two sisters and seven brothers. My family has been the pillar of my faith and vocation to the priesthood. The im-portance of God and solidarity with others are some of the most important values that my parents infused on all of my brothers and sisters.

Atrium, Chapel Dedicated

The construction is finally finished. No more jack hammers, hammer drills, grinders or concrete trucks. No more constant beeping from the alarms of the lifts that carried workers into the upper reaches of the new spaces. No more mud. The front parking lot is finished and striped. There is grass in places it should be once again and some in new spaces. Things are quiet again, at least for a little while until school starts. Life begins to return to normal.

I think back to what our campus looked like just a few years ago, even just a year ago. It is hard to be-lieve we were able to make so many improvements to our campus. A new preschool building and ex-panded an existing kindergarten room. We got rid of the portable classrooms that served as part of the preschool. We got rid of the former convent. We created a new parking area for evening and week-ends. We constructed the new Atri-um and Chapel, added a new class-room and an elevator. We added new restrooms that are handicap accessible. We landscaped the newly constructed areas and changed the landscape around the existing Church.

We did all this and remained debt free.

We are already working on several new projects to update and improve several areas of our existing building. Stay tuned as those plans develop.

¡Bienvenida Al padre Martín Estrada como nuestro Vicario!

Soy el padre Martin Estrada. Soy de un pueblo

llamado San Julián, en Jalisco, México. Nací el 17 de

julio de 1983, y crecí en la granja de mis padres. Soy el

menor de una familia de diez hermanos: dos

hermanas y siete hermanos. Mi familia ha sido el

pilar de mi fe y vocación al sacerdocio. La importancia

de Dios y la solidaridad con los demás son algunos de

los valores más importantes que mis padres nos

infundieron a todos mis hermanos y hermanas. Estos

valores me ayudaron a ver a Dios como el centro de mi vida

y a los otros como mis hermanos y hermanas.

Dedicación del Atrio y de la Capilla

Finalmente la construcción está terminada.

No más martillos, taladros, amoladoras o

camiones de concreto. No más pitidos

constantes de las alarmas de los ascensores

llevando a los trabajadores a los tramos

superiores de los nuevos espacios. No más

barro. El estacionamiento delantero está terminado y

marcado. El césped volvió a crecer en lugares donde debería

estar y en los nuevos espacios. Las cosas vuelven a estar

tranquilas, al menos por un tiempo hasta que comience la

escuela. La vida comienza a volver a la normalidad.

Pienso en cómo era nuestro campus hace solo unos años,

incluso hace solo un año. Es difícil creer que pudimos hacer

tantas mejoras. Un nuevo edificio de preescolar y una sala

de jardín de infantes ampliada. Nos

deshicimos de las aulas portátiles que

servían como parte del preescolar. Nos

deshicimos del antiguo convento. Creamos

una nueva área de estacionamiento para las

tardes y los fines de semana. Construimos

el nuevo atrio y la capilla, agregamos un

nuevo salón de clases y un ascensor.

Agregamos nuevos baños accesibles para discapacitados.

Hicimos jardines en las áreas recién construidas y

cambiamos los jardines existentes alrededor de la Iglesia.

Hicimos todo esto y quedamos libres de deudas.

Ya estamos trabajando en varios proyectos nuevos para

actualizar y mejorar varias áreas de nuestro edificio. Estén

atentos a medida que se desarrollen esos planes.

Sunday Religious Education

Our Sunday program is a program for children Ages 4 – Grade 8. W e m eet m ost Sunday mornings from September 8 – Sunday, April 19 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:10 p.m. in Holy Ro-sary Catholic School. Please enter through the new Atrium – then the door closest to the wom-en’s restroom.

The plan is to have classes divided

into the following groupings (changes may occur based on registration).

Preschool

Kindergarten - Grade 1 Sacraments Class (for children Grade 2+ who are preparing for Sacraments) Grades 3 and 4 (who have completed Sacraments) Grades 5 and 6 (who have completed Sacraments) Grades 7 and 8 (who have completed Sacraments)

First Communion & First Reconciliation Preparation Children MUST participate in Religious Education for the whole year in order to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation & Eucharist in the spring. A year prior to the sacrament year is recommended.

Children ages 7 and older who are unbap-tized or baptized in another faith tradition and seeking sacraments will participate in RCIA adapted for Children.

Fall Bible Studies:

Acts of the Apostles is a 10 sessions study tha t tells the story of the spread of the Gospel and the growth of the early church from its beginnings at Pen-tecost. It records the conversion of Paul and the mo-mentous decision of the early church to welcome Gen-tiles as well as Jews into the church. This Little Rock Scripture Study will meet Monday evenings at 6:00 p.m. beginning Monday, Sept. 9 in the school library. The cost is $17.00 for study materials. Mark: Getting to Know Jesus In the book of Mark, Jesus eagerly proclaims the Good News: the Kingdom of God has come. What does that mean for those of us who follow Je-sus? This Six Weeks with the Bible (Loyola Press) study will take place on Wednesday mornings from 10:30 - 12:00 beginning September 11 in the Confer-ence Room in the Atrium (new space). The Bible Timeline is 24 session study that takes you on a guided journey through salvation history. Pre-senter Jeff Cavins will show you how fourteen of the Bible’s narrative books tell the biblical story from be-ginning to end and give you the keys to understanding the amazing story woven throughout Scripture. Beholding His Glory This nine-lesson Walking With Purpose study for Women, Beholding His Glory, shows us how all Scrip-ture points us to our Redeemer, Jesus Christ. We’ll learn to recognize and appreciate God’s plan for our own lives, His desire for personal intimacy with each one of us. Holy Rosary will offer two different oppor-tunities for women to participate in this study. A Tues-day Morning session will begin on September 17th at 9:00 am. Confirmation Preparation

Holy Rosary celebrates the Sacrament of Con-firmation with high school youth in grades 10 and older. Bishop Siegel will be here at Holy Rosary to celebrate the Sacrament on Satur-day, February 1, 2020 at the 4:30 Mass.

Our preparation will begin with an Orienta-tion Session on Monday, August 19th.

Formation sessions will take place on Sundays from 10:00-12:15 throughout Sept. and January. There is also a training for sponsors, Monday, Sept. 9th.
