VERERANS DAY PARADE

The Roswell High BIG RED BAND participated in the Veteran’s Day parade on 11-1-2010. There is no more important event for the band to participate in during the entire year than the Veteran’s Day parade. We honor the men and women who have placed themselves in harms way for all of us. It is the one day when we can show our appreciation. It was a special treat for me to see the 25 members of the band who showed up, marching up main street. A big “WELL DONE” to you all.

RHS BAND BOOSTER 11-15-2010

Our regular meeting for November was held Tuesday night. Members in attendance were: Maria Gutman, Bob Gutman, Carla Overmier, Alicia Ruiz, Bruce Bailey, Ted Nelson, Mau-reen Nelson, Maria Vasquez, Greg Odom & Don Determan. Children of parents who participate in Booster Club events get extra credit! President Don Determan agreed to check the legal status of the Booster Club and report his findings back to the board. We must get our house in order. Carla Overmier was appointed as our Fundraising Chairman. The members approved a new formula for giving money credit to Band Members for participa-tion in all fund raising events. Beginning immediately each Band member will be given credit toward band fees, trip costs etc. in accordance with the amount of time they or their family members put in during fund raising events. The money credits can be used to offset fees they would normally have to pay to the band director out of their own pocket. The money credits can only be used for these fees and will not be given as cash to any member. For complete de-tails parents should contact the Booster Club Board members. The members considered the proposal for a joint fund raising “Dinner & Raffle” with the Goddard Booster Club. It was agreed on and Carla Overmier, our new Fundraising Chairman was given authority to proceed with the planning. The Big Red Band Awards Banquet will be held at RHS commons area on December4th 6pm. The Booster Club will provide the main dish and each class will bring assorted items for a pot luck. The trip to San Antonio December 2011 is officially approved. We will begin fund raising ef-forts immediately. We will need the help of all parents and anyone else who wishes to pitch in.
