Story Time!

Camp Prism 2014: Survivor BabylonThis summer, forty-nine of our third, fourth and fifth graders, including

several friends from GAIHN, attended camp. Camp Prism is an annual four day sleep-away camp that is held at Bonclarken Conference Center together with seven other CBF churches. Our theme for the week was Survivor Babylon. In addition to Bible studies on the book of Daniel, worship experiences and campfire time, children had the opportunity to do crafts, go swimming, take part in group games and experience the zipline and other adventurous activities. Many thanks to our chaperones: Trevor Barton, Bruce Brown, Sara Kathryn Coates, Christine Hargraves, Ruth Kennedy, Tony McDade, Dennis McIntosh, Naomi Mobley and Children’s Minister Becky Ramsey.

Youth Ministry Update

We would love to have a big crowd on Wednesday nights for supper. The fellowship and food are a real treat. In order for us all to have the best experience possible, the Food Services Committee would like to remind everyone about several things –

1. You must make a reservation by Monday at 5:00 p.m. in order to have a meal ready for you. The prices will remain the same---$3 for children (10 and under) and $8 for adults (11 and up). If a reserved meal is missed and not cancelled, you will be billed for the reservation.

2. We are trying to monitor portion control so for the first few weeks, volunteers will be serving the entrees. Please remember that this is not “all you can eat” but a good meal for a fair price.

3. “To go” boxes for $.25 each will only be available at the front table where you pay.

4. We hope to have online reservations soon---more to come!

First Baptist is partnering with Nicholtown Baptist Church to collect shoes for Haiti, Uganda and India. Children’s shoes are also collected year-round for Just Clothes and Love at First Baptist. This is a wonderful opportunity to give the shoes you no longer need to those who have none. The shoe drive starts Sunday, August 27, and ends September 15. Containers marked for donations are located in the Rotunda, outside the Fellowship Hall, outside the Sanctuary and in the AYMC. For more information, call Frank Smith, 616-5444, or Delores Durham, 325-3195, at Nicholtown Missionary Baptist Church. All donated children’s shoes will be given to Just Clothes and Love.
