POSTLUDE
RESPONSIVE READING: John 11:17-27
Leader: Then when Jesus came, he found that he had lain
in the grave four days already.
People: Now Bethany was nigh unto Jerusalem, about
fifteen furlongs off:
Leader: And many of the Jews came to Martha and Mary, to
comfort them concerning their brother.
People: Then Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was
coming, went and met him: but Mary sat still in the
house.
Leader: Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst
been here, my brother had not died.
People: But I know, that even now, whatsoever thou wilt ask
of God, God will give it thee.
Leader: Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again.
People: Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise
again in the resurrection at the last day.
Leader: Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the
life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead,
yet shall he live:
People: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never
die. Believest thou this?
... All: She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou
art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come
into the world.
A message from our Pastor
Praise the LORD, Saints!
“Behold, I will do a new thing: now it shall spring forth.” (Isaiah 43:19 KJV)
God does marvelous things. His divine ability to never run out of blessings is
unique and spiritually encouraging. Taking into thought the history of
humankind’s existence, God has plenty of new things for all of us. Jeremiah, the
prophet of God, said, “great is the Lord’s faithfulness. morning by morning new
blessings I see.”
That message carries over into your Christian life as a believing Saint and covers
the unbeliever also because God’s grace and mercy falls on the just and the
unjust. The songwriter sang that the blood of Jesus “reaches from the highest
mountain to the lowest valley.” Whether high or low, God will meet you where
you are with new mercies.
You may wonder why the sinner receives the same blessings as the Saint. Well,
all Saints were once sinners who were saved by grace. No exceptions. If the Lord
had not blessed us all with his love, no one could have qualified to be saved.
Your advantage over the unsaved is that you know that you are saved by the
blood of Jesus. When you know what you know, and know that what you know is
true, it does not matter what others think, do or say.
Never feel compelled to be wroth with God when it appears that you are not
getting your fair share for claiming Christ Jesus as your Lord and Savior. I guess
you may think like other saved folks. You live right. You do right. You act right.
Surely, there must be some compensatory return on investing your life with
Christ, right? Right.
God does a new thing in us every day. Some of those things go unnoticed
because the new things range from subtle to phenomenal. We often do not
know the difference between them until we look back over our lives and
measure our days. I have reflected on my life quite often and always come away
scratching my head because I realize how blessed I have been. The Lord is still
blessing me beyond my understanding, and I thank Him for it. Just look back over
your life and see for yourself.
I am particularly thankful for another seven weeks of preparation for the new
year through prayer. The Psalms and Proverbs always present something new
and fresh to my spirit. This year was special because I was blessed during a global
pandemic as were you. It is spiritually ironic to me, but the pandemic was
refreshing. That is phenomenal.
As the world continues trying to figure things out, God told us everything is
under His control. He has enlightened us, enriched us and emphasized His open
love for us. As long as we do not take God’s love for granted, we will continue to
prosper in every field of human progress. You continue to make unnoticeable
advances in your life all because you are a child of God. That is the subtlety of
God.
As God’s children, we have obediently prepared ourselves with prayer, equipped
ourselves with love, elevated our God of glory and earned portions of His power.
Now that we are able and ready, we will now spring forth into new things of God.
It is His promise.
Yours because of Christ Jesus,
Pastor H.B. Robinson, Jr., D. Min.
God bless..
Pastor’s message continued
Taking it to the Altar
Take your worries, concerns and prayers to the altar and leave them there.
‘Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.’
Philippians 4:6-7 (KJV)
The flowers on our virtual altar are on behalf of Sister Denelda
Draines in memory of her parents, Clinton & Marian Draines, Grandmother Ruth Lowe, Sister Cebrena Ambrose and Aunt LaDonna Lowe.

Wendy Hillard Gymnastics
(Born December 11, 1960 age 60)
A native of Detroit she became the first African American rhythmic gymnast to compete as a member of the U.S. national team, making her the first to represent the United States in an international competition including three World Championships (1979, 1981 and 1983).
At the age of 15, she began tumbling classes in Detroit. She discovered Drs. Zina and Vladimir Mironov’s classes at the JCC which offered artistic gymnastics, bars, beams, rhythmic gymnastics. Shortly after studying under Dr. Zina, Wendy’s mother convinced the Leon Atchison who was the Director of Detroit Parks and Recreation at the time to hire the pair. They then became employees of Detroit, as co-directors of the city’s gymnastics program making the classes affordable to students.
Wendy continued to train under Zina who at this time had a truly diverse team and they were one of the top two rhythmic gymnastics teams in the United States. This team was just as ambitious and competitive as their instructor. 1978 Wendy was the first African American to make the National Rhythmic Gymnastics team, in 1983, at the training camp for the World Championships, the head coach overlooked Wendy and selected girls who ranked lower. When Wendy questioned the judge’s call, her coach Zina explained, “You stand out too much!”
Wendy’s parents sent a telegram to the national USA Gymnastics organization, challenging the coach’s call and won their case. Wendy went on to serve a record nine times on the team, twice as the team’s captain. She competed in three world championships and traveled to more than 15 foreign countries.
1993 elected first African American and the first gymnast president of the Women’s Sports Foundation, the sports advocacy group founded by tennis great Billie Jean King. 2008 she was Inducted into the USA Gymnastics Hall of Fame just to name a few of her many accomplishments.
She currently runs the Wendy Hilliard Gymnastics Foundation located in Harlem, which she founded in 1996. Her foundation provides low-cost quality gymnastics for over 15,000 youth in New York City.
