Family dogs also welcomed! Hot soup was taken on board before the ascent to the inner keep! Local historian and Clerk to Beeston Parish Council Mr Doug Haynes gave a talk about June 18th, being the bicentenary of The Battle of Waterloo and also about other important events commemorated this year. We were thrilled that Sir Ranulph Fiennes was kind enough to find a slot in his busy schedule to tell us of his fascinating historical family links to the battle and to Agincourt. Some lucky guests were able to get signed copies of his book from the VisitorsCentre. The Beacon was lit by Sir Ranulph Fiennes at dusk. It was a thrilling experience.
