YELLOW GRASSS To wrap up the year, a movie will be shown at the library on Monday, Dec. 23 at 4 p.m. Snacks will be provided and everyone is welcome. The Yellow Grass branch library held their last board meeting for 2013 on Dec. 11 with eight in attendance. A re- minder that the library will be closed from Dec. 24 to Jan. 2. Mixing a little country into their Christmas concert The Weyburn Comp Girls’ Choir mixes a little country into a Christmas concert at Grace United Church, by singing a Shania Twain song. Different songwriters were featured during the Dec. 10 performance, as the concert theme was “Celebrating the Season and the Songwriters”. There were many volunteers who helped with cooking turkeys, bringing des- serts and helping in the kitchen. There were approximately 85 plates as well as about a dozen or more takeout orders. This event was held by the Lake Alma Re- creation Board. Elaine Roysum had stayed with her grandchildren Mya and Kason Roysum at Wilcox, while their parents Shane and Lindsay were in Vegas. She arrived in Wilcox on Dec. 3. Cory Roysum and son Jens, Garnet Roysum and Jace Woitas went to Wilcox on Dec. 7 where the two little boys played hock- ey with Radville age seven and under boys against Wilcox. El- aine, Mya and Kason returned to Beaubier with Garnet. On Dec. 8 they attended mass at Lake Alma and then enjoyed potluck dinner at the Lake Alma Lutheran Church. The Roysums travelled to Oxbow on Dec. 8 where they took in Olivia and Kaybree Fonstad’s music recital. Elaine, Mya and Kason returned to Wilcox on Dec. 10 and Elaine returned back to Beaubier on Dec. 11. Garnet and Elaine Roysum traveled to Oxbow on Dec. 12 where they took in Kaybree Fonstad’s Christmas program. Clare and Ida Offet were Queen City goers on Dec. 12 where Ida had a doctor’s ap- pointment and Clare had an appointment with the eye spe- cialist. They had a short visit with their son Craig and stopped for a short hello with their grand- daughter Janessa Bell. Norma Lohse celebrated her 85th birthday at the Wheat- land Senior Centre on Nov. 30, with 34 members of her family in attendance. Family include Brenda and Mark Stockford and Jarret of North Battleford; Candys and Charlie Erickson of High River, Alta.; Janet Scott of St. Albert, Alta.; Pat Stock- ford, Jeff MacKenzie and Devin Lohse of Saskatoon; Martin and Alisha Torkelson, Jaxon and Liam, Brady and Paige Popil and Kohan of Moose Jaw; Ila and Kirk Torkelson of Beaubier; My- kala and Jasmin Lohse and Chris McLean of Regina; Kevin and Annette Lohse, Dan and Sheryl Lohse, Paul and Sharla Torkel- son and Brenna, Kim Lohse, Trenton Shauf, Sam Bendickson and Ashley McKay and Skyler of Weyburn. They had supper at the Wheatland and then finished the evening off at the home of Kevin and Annette Lohse in Weyburn. Norma Lohse accompan- ied Kevin and Annette Lohse to Regina on Dec. 5 where they at- tended the choral concert of the four Regina Catholic Schools, in which Mykala, daughter of Kevin and Annette was a partici- pant. The concert was held at the Centre of the Arts. Norma Lohse went with her son Dan and Sheryl to Moose Jaw on Dec. 7 where they helped Kohan Popil, their great grand- son and grandson celebrate his first birthday. Melissa Lohse is now living in her new home in Weyburn having finished moving las t weekend. She is commuting to Tribune to her job there with the Credit Union. Word was received of the sudden passing of Jeanette Hudon (nee Toso) on Nov. 26 at her home in Calgary, Alta. at the age of 75. Funeral service was held in Calgary at Emanuel Community Church on Nov. 30. Jeanette is the sister of Lorraine Roysum of Weyburn. Doris Anderson was moved back to Weyburn General Hos- pital on Dec. 3 from Regina General Hospital where she was taken via ambulance after having suffered a stroke. They will post pictures at the rink and town office so the pub- lic can see what they are working towards. They are close to nailing down a final cost and will know within a few weeks the total as there were a couple of changes from the preliminary design that was origin- ally done up. Now, the fundraising efforts really need to get into gear. Residents with any sugges- tions, can contact the pool commit- tee people know. Pool committee members are: Chris Dewtie, Eric Kesslering, Jeff Littlejohn, Colin Rosengren, Kyle Peterson, Tyler Scrupps and Catrina Moldenhauer. They are looking for more volun- teers to come on board and share ideas for fundraisers. The committee will be put- ting on their second annual Snow- mobile Derby on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014. Details haven’t been worked out yet and more information will be released in January. For more details please contact Chris Dewtie. There will be free public skating on Dec. 20 from 2 to 4 p.m., Dec. 21 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., Dec. 22 from 2 to 4 p.m., Dec. 23 from 2 to 4 p.m. The rink will be closed from Dec. 24 to 26. The rink will reopen with free public skating each day from Dec. 27 to 30 from 2-4 p.m. The rink will again be closed on Dec. 31 and January 1. The Midale Rec Board asks that everyone respects the rink and the rules of the rink to ensure everyone have fun while they are there. The Midale Central School’s annual Christmas dinner is Thurs- day, Dec. 19. The elementary Christmas concert was held Dec. 17. This year’s production was called “Santa Knows Best”. The school is reminding par- ents and their children that proper attire must be worn throughout the school year. Children need to be wearing a winter coat, boots, mitts, toques, and scarves. For those rid- ing the buses, the bus driver has the right to deny your child a ride if they are not dressed appropriately. The bus drivers must worry about the safety should the bus break down. The Midale library hours are Tuesdays from 3 to 8 p.m. and Fri- days from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Midale Novice Storm played in Estevan’s tournament last weekend and performed very well. They lost their first two games but played very good. They won their third game quite handily but lost their fourth game. The Storm played host to Radville on Saturday and to Milestone on Sunday. The Midale Mustangs lost to Bi- enfait at home for the second time this year. On Dec. 13 they played host to Oxbow and they are to host Arcola tonight, Dec. 18. Come out and cheer them on. Kathy McDonald and Tyah- Rae and Rylan McNaughton of Weyburn visited with Gertie Duddy and Betty McDonald re- cently. The ladies Christmas party was well attended at the Seniors Centre on Dec. 10.
