New

Normal

The new normal.The “new normal” usually refers to some undesirable situation that has become commonplace.

• We heard it after the financial crisis in 2008.• We say it when a loved one is diagnosed with a terminal illness.• We experience it as we endure more disastrous wildfires, hurricanes and heatwaves than

ever before.

But because of the generosity of our donors, sponsors and board members – who wrote the checks and donated the venues and bought the tickets and the tables and raised those paddles – we were able to honor our $500,000 pledge to UCP Seguin’s Community Connections’ program.

That created a new normal – a good kind of new normal – for the people we serve.

Our pledge:

• provided Teddy & Kimberly with the opportunity to search and prepare for interviews which led to paying jobs in their communities. Their new normal is feeling like a valued member of their community and the reward of having a paycheck.

• allowed Vicky to participate in Community Connections North’s basketball program. The new normal for Vicky – now the team captain – is to make healthier food choices so she has the stamina to lead her team in the upcoming season.

• helped with UCP Seguin’s purchase of a facility in Wheaton so more consumers will experience a new normal in DuPage County.

We hope that you’re inspired by the new normal that our consumers are living every day. And we thank you for your role in making it happen.

Great Chefs Tasting Party

Let’s be honest: after planning twenty-six Great Chefs events, it was time to shake it

up a bit. And we did! With the help of a professional emcee, we engaged all of our

guests in a room-wide paddle raise and broke an all-time fundraising record at our

27th Annual Great Chefs Tasting Party. In addition to enjoying tastings from our

participating chefs and distillers – and inspired by Dawn and Brian Caden’s story

– our guests raised their auction paddles with wild abandon – getting us over the

$200,000 mark for the first time, ever!

Chip In Fore Hope

As is par for the course, we’ve put another successful Chip In Fore Hope in the

books! Board members and guests enjoyed a gorgeous day at Ruth Lake Country

Club and helped us tee up the funds to support Community Connections.
