  • Science progress for businessKaunas University of Technology (KTU) is famous for its achievements in ultrasound, organic chemistry, me-chatronics, system diagnostics, environmental enginee-ring, and many other fields. The University is the leader among higher education institutions in development and successful implementation of innovative technological solutions in the industry. The scientists of Kaunas University of Technology carry out 70 percent of all research for business carried out by higher education institutions, and the annual amount of contracts for technological services with businesses exceeds 3 million euro.

SOME SUCCESS STORIES: The scientists and researchers of Kaunas University of

Technology developed the first Lithuanian nanosatel-lite (size – 10 cm3, weight – 0,9 kg) under laboratory conditions. “LitSat-1” started its space mission in NASA centre (USA) on 9th of January, 2014. We are proud that the equipment, used in the satellite, i.e., GPS receiver, which has not been used in small satellites so far, the main plate of satellite, software solar panels, and the housing of satellite, were made and installed in Lithu-ania, while 3 Lithuanian words “Lietuva myli laisvę” (Li-thuania loves freedom) were successfully broadcasted to space on 3rd of March, 2014.

The scientists of Health Telematics Science Institute of Kaunas University of Technology, in cooperation with professionals of other fields in Lithuania, EU, USA, and China, developed the first non-invasive intracranial pressure meter in the world, the cere-brovascular autoregulation monitor, the technolo-gies for monitoring the volumetric waves of brains and their creep diagnostics, unique flow velocity and flow meters, and many other innovative technolo-gies. These technological solutions are protected by 26 USA, European, and national patents.

One of the most successful projects, implemented by the team of scientists from Centre of Real Time Computer Systems of Kaunas University of Tech-nology, is the smart refrigerator. Today, the smart refrigerators, developed by Kaunas University of

Technology, are used in the centres of science rese-arch company “Thermo Fisher Scientific” all around the world. The scientists, who work there, do not need to track when one or other research materials are finished, to send orders, to communicate with suppliers – it is done by smart refrigerators.

We can help researchers or companies, engaged in scientific and experimental development activity, in the following areas:

Diagnostic and measurement technologies Smart environment and information technology New materials for high technologies Technologies for sustainable development and energy Sustainable growth and sustainable sociocultural

developmentYou can order the services of scientific and applied research, and equipment rent through open access information system - https://apcis.ktu.edu/

  • BusinessNational Open Access R&D Centre within Kaunas Uni-versity of Technology at “Santaka” Valley is one of the largest in Lithuania and the essential link between the most promising technologies and the knowledge-in-tensive companies; their cooperation promotes resear-chers to practically implement the ideas, which would turn into successful business projects in the future.

CompaniesTechnological Business Incubator of “Santaka” Valley of Kaunas University of Technology is the place where companies, open to the research results in the fields of future energy, sustainable chemistry, mechatronics, information and communication technologies, have been established: UAB “Singletonas”, UAB ”SEMS Technologies”, UAB “Sonaro”, UAB “Energetikos projek-tai”, UAB “Softneta”, UAB “Rubedo sistemos”, “Virtus-tream LT”.

    The scientists:

    145 professors

    441 associate professors

    and researchers

The first cleanroom in Lithuania meeting ISO 5 standard requirements is established in the Institute of Materials Science, where research on nanotechnologies, semiconductors, and microe-lectronic elements, in compliance with the highest quality requirements, is carried out. The Institute is a member of cleanrooms and high technologies network “Technet_nano” of the Baltic Sea Region.

  • Let’s work together

We work on the basis of one-stop principle, there-fore, business representatives can directly address KTU National Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centre (nivc.ktu.edu) for ordering of various services, applied research, technological solutions or laboratory equip-ment. We will help to contact the groups of scientists and researchers, whose research meet the needs of your company best. The contribution of each our team member is very important, in order to continue to remain the higher education institution, characterized by the most successful cooperation with business. We have helped many companies to improve their pro-ducts and technologies. We look forward to applying the scientific progress in your business.
