Music is an integral part of life at King’s. To ensure our facilities reflect the commitment and ambition our pupils show in this area, we are building a £10m statement building at the heart of the school site. The new state-of-the-art music school will include an impressive new concert hall and foyer, a suite of ultra-modern practice rooms and three large classroom and recital venues.

the projectThe concert hall will accommodate a 70-piece orchestra and an audience of over 200 people in a magnificent two story-high space with plans for a foyer with refreshment facilities and impressive views across the school grounds. The practice suite will consist of 14 sound-proofed rooms, including larger spaces for ensembles, and large group rehearsal venues and specialist classrooms will be provided for piano, percussion and brass.

updating and ExpandingOver 250 pupils in the senior school have instrumental tuition or are members of our large musical ensembles, while ninety percent of junior school pupils participate in a musical activity. With such excellent rates of musical participation, it is imperative that we develop and invest in our music facilities in order to ensure that boys and girls at King’s are able to develop their talent and fulfil their musical potential.

the take a Seat campaign offers donors a unique way to show their support for music at King’s by inviting them to ‘take a seat’ in our spectacular new concert hall, dedicating it to a person or group of their choosing.

This is a very special way of honoring a friend, family member, teacher or even a year group and each plaque will represent a lasting show of support for our musicians, teachers and pupils – past, present and future.

choosing a SeatShould you decide to contribute towards this campaign, please complete the enclosed form which asks you to choose the section in which you would like your seat and to confirm the name(s) you would like to appear on your plaque (up to 35 characters). Once you submit this form to the development office, your gift will be processed and you will be asked to verify your inscription to ensure its accuracy.

When the building is complete, the engraved plaque will be attached to the back of your chair in the concert hall where it will remain in place for the lifetime of the seat, celebrating your support for the school.
