SOKM's Applebee's Fundraiser

Once again, SOKM has organized Applebee'sFlapjack Fundraisers for music students at LasColinas, Monte Vista, and new this year, PVSEA,LPSSA, and SRTMS.

SOKM provides instruments, instrument repair,sheet music, music stands, supplies, refreshments,awards, buses, etc for ALL middle school musicstudents as well as for the after-school YAA musicclasses.

These fundraisers are a way for middle schoolmusicians and their parents to help SOKM helpthem participate in music.

If each student sells just TWO tickets at $10each, we will meet our fundraising goal!

trophy.

Parent Volunteers Needed

We also need parents (12 at each event) to helpserve and clean up on the morning of the

breakfast. We are also seeking parents to be the"contact person/s" for each school. Parents can

Here are the dates:

Saturday, January 21 for Monte Vista,Sunday January 22 for Las ColinasSaturday January 28 for PVSEA, SRTMS, andLPSSA.

The breakfasts are at Applebees,291 W VenturaBlvd, Camarillo, CA 93010 and go from 8 am to 10am; pancakes, syrup, scrambled eggs, sausage,

juice and coffee are served.

Money for ticket sales (together with the orderforms) for Las Colinas and Monte Vista must be

turned in by Thursday, January 19!

Betty Weyek Honored for Volunteering

Betty Weyek was honored as Volunteer of theYear by the Pleasant Valley Recreation and ParkDistrict for her years of service as the headorganizer of the marching band contest before theCamarillo Christmas Parade.

The recentDecember's parademarked the final timeBetty will organize thecontest, having done sofor the last 20 years. She is looking forwardto watching the paradefrom the sidelines nextDecember along with

her grandchildren. Betty is well-known to all music students inPVSD as she works with all of the music directorsto coordinate the programs. She is a foundingmember of Save Our Kid's Music and is thepresent Vice-President. To see the article about Betty's honor in theAcorn, click Acorn article.
