Taking influence from Beyoncé’s website, we changed our banner from buttons to just plain text to make it look less cluttered.

Also, when scrolled over, the text changes from black to red, in keeping with the band’s main colours.

This was created through Wix, an is an example of how Wix was very beneficial: this effect was easily created through selecting the text and editing the properties, which would have taken a lot longer to do had we needed to code this using HTML.

Whilst researching artists' websites, I look at Lily Allen after being interest in her marketing campaign since her comeback with "hard out here". I particularly liked the simplicity of her website and how album and single oriented it was. Whilst as a group did not like the website in general, because we felt it did not have great usability, I very much liked the banner at the top.

We thought that this banner made it very easy for the user to interact and to connect through social media. We also thought the newsletter bar was a good idea and took influence from this. We made it possible for users to subscribe to our newsletter, and we created this feature on our WIX website through an online web tool called mail chimp. Initially it was on the homepage in a similar way to that of Lily Allen's, but we felt it looked cluttered as a bar and instead linked it from the homepage . This short clip shows how it was possible to use it via the website.

We again took influence from Beyonce for this feature, she has 30 second teaser videos for each new song available on the website.

Our artist would be much less well known, and so to raise awareness of the new single, we decided to have it play automatically.

This was another advantage of Wix; we found that this was already a possible feature from the website. We added a pause button in case users found the audio irritating. This again was possible due to the pre-existing features on wix.

To try and make our website as interactive as possible, we made pages for our artist on facebook, twitter, instagram, tumblr and pinterest. We added hyperlinks to the images of the relevant social media icon, which was made easy by Wix because again we did not have to code anything.

To again further the interactivity of our campaign, we ensured that the links ran not only from our website to these social media pages, but from one another as well. This meant that we could share content across these platforms and fully harness the opportunities provided by web 2.0.

From the beginning of making our website, we keen to make it as interactive as possible. For this reason, we made it possible to comment on most posts, activities and threads via Facebook and other popular accounts. However, this was not an option provided by Java-based Wix. For this reason, we had to use HTML code to add this feature to our website.

To make it even more interactive, we wanted to have our twitter stream on the home page, as we thought users would be more likely to follow our account if they could see the type of content they could expect. Again however, this was not a feature offered by WIX. Fortunately, we managed to find a pre-made widget with HTML code online that we could use to accomplish this.

These rotating images on the homepage were taken as an influence from many bands’ websites, such as The Strokes. We decided this would be a good way to make our website less static, and would draw the users eye more. We created it by using an effect pre-designed for images in Wix.
