clubs to monetise the passion of fans and the amazing environments stadiums provide.

Sports Revolution as the largest stadia media rights holder needed to innovate on behalf of their clients and to provide a way to deliver new technology solutions that fans, clubs and sponsors would love alike and were looking for a partner that could answer all of these.

Ness partnered with Sports Revolution to reimagine the in-stadium mobile experience for football fans and help their clients integrate with the digital economy. We collaborated with the Sports Revolution team, leading them through our discovery process work with them to define clear business objectives and a vision that can drive the project and the product roadmap. We identified the key sources of information and key stakeholders across business units, the

products and the documentation to analyze. This process involves detailed direct and indirect competitor analysis, benchmarking, trend analysis, and value proposition user validation. We worked collaboratively with their team guiding them with our depth of sports, design and technology knowledge mapping fan journey’s to create a product that meets user requirements and business strategy, ultimately validating our product direction with users.

Experience Engineering discovery process

Our teams in partnership created an engaging white label fan experience that complements the live match and o!ered partners the chance to embrace the digital economy and monetise fan behaviour on web and mobile.

The proposition is built on Cisco’s WiFi system and released on the app stores in order to create an fan engagement platform for in and out of the stadium.

The product enables real time communication between the club and fans before, during and after the game using a unique content card timeline feed with curated social media posts, key statistics, exclusive videos and photos, as well as take part in votes for best player and best goals. It also enables sponsor and club promotions and campaigns that are in context and unobtrusive.

We are a product partner of Sports Revolution’s and in our long-term product roadmap we have planned leveraging the infrastructure for merchandise sales, food and beverage ordering as well as further opportunities with in-game betting, video replays, in stadia screen visualisations and location services.

Ultimately our partnership is focused on a key drive on constant innovation that keeps pace with the digital economy and the premise that the future is already here.

Curated Content

The key di!erences in our approach are the curated nature of the content, all posts made in real-time by an in-stadium curator, the tone of their genuine fan commentary, the exemplary user experience which respects the rituals of the fan complimenting rather than interrupting the experience enabled us to win the top accolade, at the Sports Technology Awards 2014, winning the “Best app for Fans” award.

Integrating with WiFi System

As a first phase we integrate on a connectivity level. When the fan enters the stadium when from their mobile browser they are sent to a landing page where they can download the application, capturing the user info enabling them to download the application. Users cannot browse the Internet within the stadiums encouraging usage on the application.

Integrations

We integrated with native sharing functionalities and Social ID’s to share the content and connect with the clubs. We used GIGYA social analytics to capture rich behavioural data, which has become a long-term asset for the clubs and sponsors.

Driving Usage

The application was pre-marketed to fans on social media, on email mailing lists, on signage around the city and at the stadium on stadium media, internal screens and back of seats. The Stadium WiFi fan experience ultimately has been designed as a content application that is viral by its nature and shows strong organic growth.

Platforms

We built native applications on IOS and Android. This application is a chrome visualising content in a web format which is curated, previewed and pushed to devices from a web cms.
