The Bible teaches us that God made mankind to be his image bearers. He gave Adam and Eve the royal task of filling the earth with more image bearers of the one, true King — Jesus Christ. When our first parents (Adam and Eve) disobeyed God in the garden of Eden, all of their descendants fell into sin along with them. Because of our sin, we all deserve God’s wrath. Life, therefore, is an undeserved gift from God, never to be presumed or rejected. Motherhood is evidence that God is patient toward us, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance. Even though we believe what the Bible says about life being an undeserved gift, it’s easy to treat the presence of life as the gift we didn’t ask for. The dirty dishes in the sink or the laundry in the basket—evidence of God’s provision for hungry mouths and naked bodies—become a burden. A baby’s cries in the night or a child’s exuberant “outside voice" — evidence of God’s grace to sustain life in this
sinful world—become an annoyance. Whether moms have zero birth children or twelve, their opportunities to nurture others and “mother” others in the faith are overwhelming. There are so many different kinds of mom’s... adoptive mothers foster mothers, biological mothers, and spiritual mothers. The nurturing work of motherhood is not limited to biological birth. Around the clock, moms are driving to work, crafting a report, feeling a baby kick from the inside out, and making sure their kids needs are met. The throne room in heaven is reverberating with unceasing praise for the Lamb who was slain. When a mom’s calendar is full of things to do, her heart is full of worries, and her hands are full, she needs to remember that her work done unto Jesus is part and parcel of the Kingdom that is breaking into this old age. “All the earth will be filled with His glory”. Thank God for mothers! The unspoken, underrated ministry that deserves to be celebrated. To every mom reading this…. THANK YOU!
Proverbs 31: 10-31
“A good woman is hard to find, and worth far more than diamonds.
Her husband trusts her without reserve, and never has reason to regret it.
Never spiteful, she treats him generously all her life long.
She shops around for the best yarns and cottons, and enjoys knitting and sewing.
She’s like a trading ship that sails to faraway places and brings back exotic
surprises. She’s up before dawn, preparing breakfast for her family and
organizing her day. She looks over a field and buys it, then, with money she’s put
aside, plants a garden. First thing in the morning, she dresses
for work, rolls up her sleeves, eager to get started. She senses the worth of her
work, is in no hurry to call it quits for the day.
She’s skilled in the crafts of home and hearth, diligent in homemaking.
She’s quick to assist anyone in need, reaches out to help the poor.
She doesn’t worry about her family when it snows; their winter clothes are all mended and ready to wear. She makes her own
clothing, and dresses in colorful linens and silks.
Her husband is greatly respected when he deliberates with the city fathers.
She designs gowns and sells them, brings the sweaters she knits to the dress shops.
Her clothes are well-made and elegant, and she always faces tomorrow with a
smile. When she speaks she has something
worthwhile to say, and she always says it kindly. She keeps an eye on everyone in her household, and keeps them all busy
and productive. Her children respect and bless her; her husband joins in with words of praise: “Many women have done wonderful
things, but you’ve outclassed them all!” Charm can mislead and beauty soon fades. The woman to be admired and
praised is the woman who lives in the Fear-of-GOD.
Give her everything she deserves! Festoon her life with praises! ,
And let her own works praise her in the
gates.”
