SCRIP

SCRIP will be for sale after Mass the weekend of April

22nd/23rd. SCRIP is available in the school office, Monday

thru Friday.

….. Thank you for supporting your parish & school.

From the desk of Father Rob …….

Welcome to all our visitors on this holiest day of all days! If you have never stepped foot in a church before or if you have not been to the Mass in quite some time, we wish you greetings and God’s peace today. Christ has died and risen, so that even though we were dead in sin, we may have life and share that life with the Lord! There are many people that make Holy Week and Easter so special in our parish. Many thanks to those who make our environment so beautiful, and I am grateful to all those who have donated toward the Easter flowers. They are very beautiful! Also, there is much time and talent spent in the planning of our liturgy and music. Much appreciation to Bob Craig, Laura Schuler, our musicians, cantors, and choir members for the donation of their gifts to bring the Mass to life and to help us to pray twice. Thanks to all those who volunteered their time to serve, to distribute the Eucharist, to greet and usher, and to proclaim the Word. Their dedication to the Mass makes our liturgies flow smoothly and prayerfully. Finally, I wish to point out that there are Holy Water fonts at the entrances to the church. For some time, I have noticed that for those folks who have entered from the parish parking lot or from Wisconsin Street, the vast majority did not partake of the Holy Water from the baptismal font at the front entrance. A few parishioners have noticed this as well, and a person in particular came forward and donated funds toward the purchase of the new fonts. This person does wish to remain anonymous. I thank this person for the great generosity toward the reminders of our baptism. Thank you! Congratulations to our newest parish members who were re-ceived into the Church this Easter Vigil. Happy Easter!

St Mary School wishes you a joy filled Easter! Classes resume on Tuesday, April 18th.

OUR LADY OF GOOD HELP PILGRIMAGE

Over 150 years ago, Our Blessed Mother appeared to young Adele Brise twice in a small rural area near Champion, Wisconsin. Our Mother’s request was simple, “Gather the children in this wild country and teach them what they should know for salvation.” Adele devoted her life to doing just that. On the ground where she met Our Blessed Mother, there is now a shrine dedicated to Her appearance to Adele, The Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help. The Shrine is the only Church-approved Marian apparition site in the United States. This summer you can make a pilgrimage to the Shrine along with many of our area parishioners, and see where the apparition took place, take part in Mass and Confession and learn the history of the apparition and Adele’s work to fulfill Our Blessed Mother’s request. Of course, there is a gift shop too! Our pilgrimage to Our Lady of Good help Shrine will take place June 29, 2017, and will cost $45, which includes transportation and lunch. Bus leaves from St. Mary’s church at 6:30 AM and returns at approximately 7:00 PM. Anyone wishing to join the pilgrimage should call Colleen at 868-6386 to register and for further details. Deadline for registration and payment is June 1, 2017. HURRY! Space is limited!!

Easter Sunday of the Resurrection of the Lord

"Do not be afraid! I know that you are seeking Jesus the crucified. He is not here, for he has been raised just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples, 'He has been raised from the dead, and he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him.' Behold, I have told you." - Mt 28:5b-7 ************************************************************** "They have taken the Lord from the tomb, and we don't know where they put him." Mary of Magdala, seeing the stone rolled away from Christ's burial place, runs to tell the disciples what she thinks is bad news. The grave is empty. Jesus' body must have been stolen. Clearly, resurrection isn't on her radar. As it says at the end of the passage, "They did not yet understand the Scripture that he had to rise from the dead." Only later, when Mary saw Jesus again face-to-face, did she come to understand what had actually happened. We, of course, know that the empty tomb really means good news! We know that the cross was not the end of the story, that Jesus conquered death, walked again amongst his followers, and ascended into heaven where he reigns even now. Unlike the first Christians, we have the testimony of history, the record of Scripture, and the benefit of tradition at our disposal. We have more reason to believe than Mary, Peter, or John did on first seeing the tomb! We need not waste any time "running" around like they did in search of the Savior. We know that Jesus is alive, and that sin and death have met their match. "Where, O death, is your victory?" we can now proclaim with St. Paul. "Where, O death, is your sting?" (1 Cor 15:55). Jesus has won! He is triumphant! This is the joy of Easter, based in fact and bolstered by faith. And we are the heirs of this great joy. As we sing in the Easter psalm, "This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad." On this most glorious of holy days, as we gather to feast with friends and family, let us be sure to recall the reason for our celebration: Christ is risen! Truly he is risen! Alleluia!
