Ideas for National Apprenticeship Week (and beyond)

National Apprenticeship Service

Employers

• Arrange a ‘Made by apprentices’ open day at your premises

• Include opportunities to talk to current and former apprentices, workplace tours and see first hand the contribution made by apprentices.

• Invite teachers and Year 9–11 pupils to job shadow apprentices in the workplace.

Colleges & training providers

• Organise taster sessions where local pupils can learn about a specific industry sector.

• Run your own WorldSkills UK Have a Go events to encourage potential apprentices to try a new skill.

• Extend the ‘Have a Go’ principle to teachers and encourage them to do a day as an apprentice.

Partners

• Organise a schools programme to discuss a particular industry or issue

• Attend open days organised by employers, colleges and training providers

• Help share our ‘Sector in the Spotlight’ films’ through your social media and schools channels.

Use of Social Media• Use the toolkit to develop a plan for NAW• Target you local schools via their strongest social media channel• Make sure your Social Media plan is activated well in advance of NAW
