Wl'IDSOR • Harold Sproul Turner, 79, of Route lOS died Sunday at Augusta Rehabilitation Center after an illness of several months.

Born here, son of Chauncey Depew and Flossie May Sproul Turner, he attended school here and was a 1937 graduate of Cony High School in Augusta.

On Dec. 24, 1949, he manied Sarah J . Watson Braley in Washington. Mr. Turner was a dairy fanner for 20 year.; and also operated a sawmill

He then was employed for 20 year.; as a real estate broker for the W.W. Spr.JBUe Agency in Augusta. He was a selectman for nine years here, and was a past member of the Whitefield Lions Club and the Wmdsor Grange.

Mr. Turner was a member of Dirigo Masonic Lodge at Weeks Mills, York Rite Bodies and Kora Temple Shrine. • He "''85 past noble graod of the Odd Fellows at Coopers Mills.

He and his wile spent winters in Lalceland, Fla. He was an avid golfer lor many year.;. and was a member of Natanis Golf Club. He also enjoyed bowling. He was a volunteer at the Small Business Administration in Augusta lor the Service Corps of Retired Executives.

Surviving, besides his wile, are a son. Stephen H. of Charlton, Mass.; two daughters, Sandra B. Billing of Augusta and June G. Demaree of Lakeland, Fla.; six . sisters, Mavis Choate of Wmdsor, Catherine Kilgore of South Cbina and V"uginia, Dorothy Noyes of Fabnouth, Beatrice Tibbetts of Whitefield, Joyce Clowes of Vassal­boro and Elaine Bilodeau of Skowhegan; and nine grandchildren.

Visiting hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Gray & Pratt FUneral Home, ~mdsor Neck Road, where a funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday. The Revs. Branan Becknell and W"lnifred Reynolds will olliciate. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetezy.

He attended schools on Isle Au Haul and Stonington. He served as first selectman and served on both the school ond planning boards. Mr. Turner was a launchman on the yacht, Canarga, and worked as a fisherman and carpenter. He was a AO-year member of the Morine Lodge No. 122, AF&AM, Deer Isle. He is sur· vived by his wife of 61 years, Elthea (Janes) Turner of Isle Au Haul and Stonington; one daughter, Patricia and her husband, Milton Korabik of Kings Park, Long Island, N.Y.; thr- . sans, Charles Turner and his wife, · Wilma, Richard Tur.- Sr. and his wife, Janice, all of Stonington, Robert . Dover-Foxcroft, Feb. !9.-Harry E. Turner, 116, qeputy sheriff and night police officer in this town for the last ten years, died suddenly Satur­day afternoon while making a call at the Piscataquis County jail. He was conversillg with Sheriff Harold E. True when stricken.

In spite of his advanced years, Turner had served' as pollee officer six nights each week, and he had bad no vacation during the entire time ot service. ·

A ~tlve oJ South Don~r. the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Turner. he attended the 'rural schools and Fox­croft Academy. He was aff!liated with the United Baptist Church, Mosaic Lodge · of Masons and Miriam Chap­ter. Order of the Eastern Star.

Surviving are his widow, Marsaret; five children, Mrs. Geneva Cress and Mrs. Hazel Elliott of Saruota, Fla .. Mrs. Xlara Law of Hamsen, Conn .. Miss Helen Turner of New York City and Clifton Turner of Bath, and sev­eral grandchildren.

Masonic funeral services will be held at the Lal'y Funeral Home on Slmmer Street Monday at 2 p. m., the Rev. Claude .n. Nutter, pastor of the Baptist Church. of!lciatlng, and in­terment wlll be in South Dover Ceme- ! tery in the Spring. ~
