  • 8Nada Te Turbe

Composer NotesSaint Teresa of vila (15151582), Spanish foundress of the Discalced Carmelite Order and the first female Doctor of the Church, was aflame with mystical love for God while at the same time being grounded in common sense. The verses of Nada Te Turbe were found in her own distinctive handwriting in her Breviary following her death.

    The English translation reads:

    Let nothing disturb you.

    Let nothing frighten you.

    All things are passing.

    God alone is changeless.

    Patience gains all things.

    Who has God lacks nothing.

    God alone suffices.
