Myanmar CallingMyanmar with it's 60 million people is big and awesome. The smiles and the calmthat exists in the big cities hide the fact that nearly always there are crises and dra-mas and little or big civil wars somewhere in the country.

Roasted Rats and War: The rural areas of Paletwa (southern Chin State) a jun-gle region near the border to Bangladesh, the poorest province of Myanmar - sufferfrom the ongoing war of the National Burmese Army against the ArakanArmy. The people live in fear, afraid to go out, afraid to farm. And then the ratplague! Rats everywhere, destroying everything, yet hard to catch, writes BishopAndrew from the Myanmar Lutheran Church (MLC). When they do catch the fieldrats Bishop Andrew advises the people to catch and roast the rats and send toYangon for sale to give the people some income. The people in Paletwa eat themas well to survive. The needs of the MLC are many writes Pastor James and thesupport provided through Asia Focus AFA is invaluable.

Also topray for the Prison Guards and management during this time that this course would be a witnessto the whole of the prison and not just to the inmates!

If you are unsure about what to do for the half hour ... you may try lighting a candle and readingMatthew 25:36 and/or Hebrews 13:3 then spend some time in silent meditation and prayfor the Men to be open to the leading of the holy spirit and also pray for The LordsGuidance and wisdom as the team delivers the program in Mobilong Prison.
