Retirement Announcement: David Raymond

It is with mixed feelings that I announce my retirement as Cathedral Organist

at The Cathedral Church of St. Paul. Having begun as an assistant organist in

one of Missouri’s largest Methodist churches in September, 1961, I have

enjoyed the challenges and rewards of being a church organist. After 55 years

on the bench I would like to have more time for family, travel, and other things.

I have agreed to stay on as Organist Emeritus and Organ Conservator giving

me continued opportunities to do some playing while assisting with organ and

carillon maintenance. My last official Sunday will be August 14. I look forward

to my new responsibilities as Central Iowa AGO Chapter sub-dean and helping

us move forward together with renewed spirit and energy.
