Why Suzette Huwae? Well, because that is her name. The logo is a reflection of who she is. She is trying to be authentic and origi-
nal in everything that i do. Taking things to the highest level.Suzette is French and Huwae is Moluccan meaning Crocodile.
She has had different other names as PureDesign or SimplySuzy but they didn’t work, even the logos were not authentic enough.

What theme do you use in your work?
"i like to make a statement about colourful, multicultural and strong women and make everyone aware
of our multicultural society where we can inspire each other by our backgrounds.
i want to provoke positive reactions with my art pieces. To achieve this,
i use specific texts and tags in different languages in my work in order to
stimulate a dialogue between people and bring them together: Exchanging cultures by means of languages and
rituals, and images and texts."

How would you describe your style?
“My style can be described as glamourous with an edge. You will
find lots of contrasts in my work like thick strokes against delicate thin lines.
Or i will use bold and fragile lines at the same time. it is realistic
with a PopArt feel. Expressive and introverted at once. Dark against light. i like to pay attention to these details.
it needs to be unpredictable and exciting. Funky, edgy, sassy and
colorful.”

niqueSWhat kind of techniques do you use?
“i use different techniques: ecoline, basically everything which she thinks is usefull really. besides main materials like acrylics, spraypaint, glitter,
Swarovski stones. She uses charcoal, pastels, oil pastels, crayons, markers. i paint on canvas, paper and bags to name a few. i illustrate and design for magazines as well as for companies. My specialty is painting on ceramics;
Mugs, plates, bowls, cups, saucers etc.in her work it is all about contrasts.
“i am trying to captivated that beauty, by trying to find that skin color, emphasizing the hair structure. Details in her clothes or accessories.
but still edgy, sassy. She gets her inspiration of glossy magazines, fashion, women in her own circle. Celebs.
Powerful strong genuine women. Her work is fun, vibrant and colorful and her style can be described as glamorous with an edge.
Different techniques are used in her work as spray paint, acrylics, glitters, charcoal, drops and splashes, gold and silver leaves or even Swarovski
stones. She also uses written tags and texts in her work to underline her message of her art.
Suzette: “I like to pay attention to details. It needs to be unpredictable and exciting.
Funky, edgy, sassy and colorful just like the women she aims to inspire.”
“i like to use an international approach, which i translate as using bright colors,
expressive strokes showing my view unto the cosmopolitan world…”

My specialty is Ceramics.
i started to paint ceramics in 2001 and i wanted to jazz up all plates, mugs, saucers etc. while women
from all over the world are having their get together. Give them a piece of art and make them
start a dialogue.
i have been painting on mostly on bisque, bisque is rough pottery (feels very powdery just
like the paint) and after you painted with special ceramics paint, you have to glaze it, let it dry and
fire it in the kiln.
