My Pet Monster
My pet monster’s name is Catlion. My pet has a very unique pair of eyes. It can help to cut trees and construct new buildings with its eyes. It can use its nose to sniff out lost items. It also helps to protect the good and innocent people by attacking the bad people like the burglars with its horns.
My pet is a “Superpet” because it can help to save the world. Sometimes when my pet is angry, it will stay in its cage.

My Pet Monster
I have a pet monster named Cutter. I named it that way because it is half cute and half not, but most of the time it acts cute. Its cute features are how it smiles and how it acts cute with its shimmering eyes. Its scary features are its spikes. When his spikes come out that means it is angry.
My pet monster has powerful skills like super spike jump. A super spike
jump is when its spikes appear and it jumps up high. It pokes its enemies with the spikes. However, its spikes may also appear when it is frightened. When it is tired, it will growl, scratch its ear and lie down on my lap. Its favourite food is peanuts or almond. Most of the time, I feed Cutter with peanut and almond salad with some curry.
I chose this pet because it is cute, loving and it has features which makes it interesting. Whenever I am sad, Cutter makes me laugh. I love you, Cutter. Soo Jing Yi 3 Respect
My Pet Monster My monster’s name is Firemander. It looks like Charmander in Pokémon and it likes to play with fire. It has fiery eyes, hair and tail. It also has a pair of big ears. Firemander uses his fiery features to protect people from robbers and other harm. It can also light up candles and campfire. The best thing of all is that he can keep us warm during cold weather.
My Pet Monster My pet monster is called Snapper. Snapper can kill a bad guy in one snap. If you touch Snapper, you will die within a second because of the poison on Snapper’s body. Snapper also has powerful punches. The pain that you will feel after being punched by Snapper is like being stung by a jellyfish. Seow Li Shing 3 Respect
A Mischief
“Ah ha!” I exclaimed, “This is a good book! Oh dear… It has a torn
page.” I was at the library, choosing a book to read when I recalled the
incident that happened some time ago…
It was a Thursday afternoon. I visited the library to borrow a book.
Suddenly, I heard some tearing sound and it led me to two boys tearing pages
out from a book. I ran to the librarian and reported to her about what I had
witnessed.
The librarian saw red when she heard what I said. I led her to the two
boys. She looked at them in fury. The boys knew that they had done
something wrong, so they tried to run away. The librarian caught them and
reprimanded them. They were terribly sorry for what they had done. They
promised to never do it again.
“Kai Yi, are you done selecting books?” my father asked. “One moment
please, Dad,” I replied. Then, I took the torn book and walked towards the
counter to inform the librarian about the missing page. I wondered why are
some library users so inconsiderate.

A Mischief
“Ring!” The bell had just rung. It was time for recess. I went to the
library after eating. As I was looking for some books, I saw two boys tearing
out the pages from a book. I immediately stopped them. “Hey, boys! Stop
tearing pages out from that book, you are ruining the library’s books and the
children like reading that book in your hand.” But the naughty boys replied,
“Who cares about that? It is fun and we will not stop.”
Since my advice had fallen on deaf ears, I went to the librarian to report
about the boys. I said to the librarian, “I had given them a warning but they still
did not listen and continued tearing the pages.”
The librarian stomped angrily to the boys and shouted, “Do you know
how to respect the books, the librarian and other children using this library? If
not, please get out. I do not accept this behaviour in the library.” The librarian
gave them an earful. Finally, the boys apologised to the librarian and me for
their mischief. Then, they walked off slowly to the canteen to join their friends
for recess.
I was sure that they had learned their lesson. The librarian praised me
for my quick thinking. I was as proud as a peacock for standing up to what
was right.

A Mischief
I was humming my favourite song while skipping to visit the library at
Sun Plaza. Once I had gone into the library, I went towards the shelf labelled
“A-B” to find my favourite horror books.
As I walked along the shelves, I heard ripping sound followed by
someone giggling. Following the sound, I was led to a shelf where two boys
were. Pieces of paper were scattered on the carpet floor around them. To my
horror, the two mischievous boys were tearing pages out of a book!
“Please stop doing that! This book does not belong to you,” I said to
them, holding back my anger. “Back off! This does not belong to you too!” one
of the boys hissed at me. I knew I had to report their behaviour.
When I was frantically rushing around the library to look for a librarian,
a middle-aged woman who was wearing a black jacket approached me to ask
if I needed help. I immediately exclaimed, “Two boys are tearing pages out of
a book!” After hearing what I said, as quick as lightning, she followed me and
left her trolley of books behind.
As soon as she saw the boys, she glared at them with her blood shot
eyes. When the boys saw the librarian, they dropped the book and tried to flee
but we caught them in time. The boys trembled in fear as the librarian lectured
them and gave them a warning. They also had to pay a fine of $50 for
damaging the library book.
After the boys had left the library, the librarian looked at me and smiled.
She rewarded me with two books of my choice and I was allowed to keep
them. I chose a horror story and a comedy.
I hope the boys learn to be more considerate towards other library
users in future.

My New Friend Matthias is my classmate. We became friends after coming to the same class this year. I found it fun to play with him because he has a lot of other friends that I also enjoy hanging out with. Of course, his friends are mostly boys and I already knew most of them before I knew Matthias. Matthias, Geng Che, Rui Jiat and I always play with one another. I like Matthias because I can always catch him when we play Catch. I wish we can still be friends in Secondary School. He talks a lot, just like me, so we get along well. When he said he wanted a correction tape, I gave it to him and he was very happy! How easily contented!

A Surprise “Yahoo!” It was 13 May. I was so happy because the following day would be my birthday. I was jumping up and down on my bed, feeling really excited. Then, my dad came into the bedroom and said, “Sleeping time!” He turned off the lights immediately and the room was in total darkness. I laid down on my bed and slept like a pig. While I was sleeping, I dreamed of having a birthday party. My friends were all invited to the party. We played so many games and there were a lot of food. I was enjoying in my dream when suddenly, I was woken up by the glaring light. I opened my eyes and saw my dad. I said, “Dad, you turned on the light in the middle of my beautiful dream!” “Stop dreaming, little girl, this is not the time to dream. Let’s go for breakfast,” he replied. We walked out of the room together and when I was reaching the dining room, “Happy birthday to you…” my friends were all at my house and they sang for me. I was so happy. It was like a dream came true. Soh Ting Yu Denise 3 Respect
A Challenge I Faced in a Test
“Oh no, today is my test and I didn’t study for it”, I said as I woke up and looked at the calendar. I said to myself before I left, “I hope I’ll pass my test,” and I walked to school.
In school, my teacher said, “Students, we will start our test now.” I was
nervous. I read the paper and many questions were difficult. I could only answer some questions. When I submitted my test paper, I was scared.
The next day, I got my test result and my mark was low. I had failed my
test. When I got home and showed my father my test paper, he scolded me for failing my test. I said to myself, “I will take two hours to study each day.” I studied quietly on my own but when I encountered difficult questions, I would ask my father to teach me how to do them.
Soon, it was SA2. I was a little bit nervous. I said to myself, “I will pass
this test.” The next day, I got back my test paper. I passed my test! When my
teacher was reading a book with us, my principal stepped in and called out my name. He gave me an Award of Excellence for not giving up. I went back home and proudly showed my award to my father. He said, “Well done.” So, I smiled back at my father. He reminded me to spend more time on studying and I agreed.
I learnt that I must do daily revision so that I know my work well.

Chinese New Year
On Chinese New Year Eve, I travelled to Malaysia with my family to celebrate Chinese New Year. I had my reunion dinner together with my family and grandparents. I also watched some fireworks at midnight. I look forward to every Chinese New Year because I can eat nice Chinese New Year food and goodies and I can also receive a lot of red packets from my parents, relatives and elders. The Perfect Present
I would like to give a present to Ariel, the first friend I made in Primary
3. She is also my best friend now. I would like to thank her for all the kindness
and help she has given me. Whenever I need anything, she will be there to
lend it to me. The perfect present for her would be a card and a bracelet. I
have chosen the bracelet because I will be adding the “BFF” beads to let her
know that she will be my best friend forever.

An Unlucky Day
RING! This was the third time Edison had heard his irritating alarm
clock. He tried to muffle the sound with his pillow and continued to hug his
teddy bear and dozed off in no time.
“Wake up!” bellowed Mother. He jumped out of bed and realized that
he had overslept. He ran as fast as a cheetah to the bathroom. He knocked
down a few bottles of shower gel and had to pick them all up. “Why is my day
starting so badly,” Edison sighed. After he had brushed his teeth, he went to
change into his uniform. While he was putting the uniform on, he noticed that
his uniform was torn. He had to take another set of uniform. After putting that
set on, he rushed out of the house.
“Wait! It’s going to rain. You better take your umbrella with you,” Mother
reminded. But her advice fell on deaf ears.
He was running like a bullet, trying not to miss the bus when rain
suddenly poured down in torrents. Edison tried to dash for shelter but slip and
fell. He was drenched from head to toe and he had injured his right leg. Poor
Edison had to hobble all the way to school.
When he arrived in school, the discipline master stared sternly at him.
Edison had to stay back after school because he was late for school.
“If only I had not played computer games the previous night,” Edison
said to himself.

An Unlucky Day
One day, the weather was cool and windy. It was the best day to sleep
in. R-I-N-G!!! It was the third time that the clock was ringing. I was in my bed,
dreaming about failing my test.
“Wake up! You are going to be late for school. Did you forget that you
have a Math test today?” bellowed Mother.
I jumped out of my bed and rushed into the bathroom. “Click! Clock!
Click!” I knocked down some of the new bottles of shampoo that Mother had
bought. Sneakily, I took a cup to scoop up the spilled shampoo and poured
them back into the bottle. “I wish Mother will not find out!” I said.
Then, I jumped into the bathtub and soaked my whole body. It felt so
relaxing… “Wake up!” Mother shouted at me because I fell asleep in the
bathtub. I was shocked. I got out of the bathrub, ran to my room and put on
my school uniform. Then, I took my school bag and ran out of the door.
I quickly dashed to the bus stop and as I was running, I noticed that my
bag did not feel as heavy as usual. Strange! I stopped and opened up my
bag, only to see that it was filled with toilet paper. I was furious that my sister
had played this prank on me. I ran as fast as lightning back home to throw out
the toilet paper and put the things that I needed into my bag before I rushed
off to school again.
By the time I reached school, the test had ended. My teacher scolded
me and gave me zero mark fo the test. I was very sad.
What an unlucky day! If only I had not played my new toy till so late
and had slept earlier the previous night.

My Ideal June Holidays
On one of the days during the June holidays, I wish I could go to Hard Rock Hotel at Sentosa to swim in the cool water and play on the water slide and the sand play area in the swimming pool. It also has a drink bar in the Fun Pool where people can get a drink during their swim. Another thing I like about this hotel is that some of the hotel rooms have a balcony each, which I had slept in before.
Another ideal place to go is the Sinar Eco Resort farm in Johor Bahru
where my family and I went during the last March holiday. In this resort, we lived in a container hotel room which was a new experience for me. There were various activities such as Animal Feeding, River Cruise and riding the all-terrain vehicle (ATV). The staff in the resort mentioned to us that there would be a sand pit play area activity in the resort soon.
My ideal school holiday is also having time to prepare for my tests in
the following term. I would learn my past spelling and do some assessment papers. I would also like to take my little brother to his childcare centre which I could not do it during my school days, because his school starts at 9.00 a.m.
Lastly, I would also wish that my parents would be at home so that they
could take me out to Northpoint City where I could dine at Swensens. I would love to eat their Kids’ meal and ice cream for lunch. I could also stay up late at night to watch shows on YouTube.
There are only a few days before my holidays. I can barely wait for my
June holidays to come! Celest Tay Yi Xuan 3 Respect
Helping Someone
“Being at the museum again feels nice,” I thought to myself. It was a
lovely Saturday afternoon. I was at the museum and was going to look at
fossils and ancient artifacts.
Suddenly, I saw Zhi Hao and went to say hi. We both greeted each
other. Then, I realized he was looking very helpless as he was preparing for
his history exam. I asked, “Zhi Hao, do you need help?” He answered, “Yes.”
He was as happy as a lark when I offered my assistance. We also went to see
the fossils together, so I was happy too.
Zhi Hao was my best friend so I helped him a lot. I realized that Zhi
Hao had a lack of understanding in the subject so I tried to explain and made
it easier for him to understand the content.
The next day, I received a “Thank you” letter from Zhi Hao and it made
me happy.

Burglary
It was a Friday midnight and I woke up because I had a terrible nightmare. I went to open the window to get some fresh air.
Suddenly, I saw two suspicious men loitering outside Mr Lim’s house. I was shocked to see one of them holding a crowbar, trying to pry open Mr Lim’s windows.
I crept into my parent’s room and woke them up to tell them about the two suspicious men. They were shocked to hear that. They looked at the window but the burglars had already crept into Mr Lim’s house. I immediately told my father to call the police.
The police came as fast as lightning. They ambushed outside Mr Lim’s
house. The burglars saw the police and they ran as fast as their legs could carry them.
The police chased and handcuffed the burglars. The police thanked me for calling them. I went back to bed feeling as proud as a peacock. Aloysius Lim Zing Lak 3 Respect
Burglary One cold breezy night, Jeff was fast asleep. The wind was too strong that the window flung open. Jeff felt thirsty so he got up to get a cup of water to drink. As he walked back to his bed, he saw the window opened. He went to check it out. He shouted, “Hello?” to see if anyone was there. Then, something caught his eyes. Jeff saw two suspicious men lurking around. They were both wearing black shirt and pants. They were carrying a big box out of his neighbour’s house. Jeff dashed to his parent’s room as fast as possible. He shouted, “MUM! DAD! THERE ARE TWO BURGLARS!” His mum and dad went to the window at Jeff’s room to check it out. They quickly dialed ‘999’ and the policemen came in not time. The burglars were scared stiff when they saw the police. The police officers told the burglars to put the box down and step away from it. The burglars stepped away. The police officers arrested the burglars and thanked Jeff and his parents for their help. The police officers rewarded Jeff and his family with tickets to Universal Studios. Jeff was as proud as a peacock that he had help to keep the burglars away.
