What about you?Work in pairs. Ask your partner some questions about themselves and their work.Examples: Where do

you work?What

kind of tasks do you do at work?

What are your plans for the

future?

What are your hobbies/

interests?

How many hours do you work

each day?

Which departments do you have

in your company?

Now think of some more questions of your own. Then introduce your partner to the rest of the class. Start like this: This is … He/She works at …

At the supermarket Unit 2

Use this information to do the tasks below.

UK/US weights and measuresThe UK uses a mixture of metric and imperial measures. In British supermarkets all weights and volumes are written on packets, cartons and tins in metric units. You buy petrol and diesel fuel in litres, and you measure temperature in degrees Celsius. But if you buy beer at a British pub, you must ask for a pint. Distances on British roads are measured in miles and yards.

The US uses only non-metric units. The height of people and buildings is measured in feet and inches, weights in stones and pounds, temperature in degrees Fahrenheit.

Length Mass
