MPS Art Expo “Fantastic”, “Inspiring”, “Such talented kids”, “Unreal” were just

some of the words and phrases conveyed to me about our inau-gural Art Expo held last Thursday evening. The hall and its sur-

DUST YOUR TALENT OFF FOR THE “BIG NIGHT OUT”: We are organising a “Big Night Out” variety

concert (adults only) to showcase the depth of “hidden” talent we have in our school community. It

will be held on Friday night, 2nd November at Mullumbimby Services Club. If you would like a spot in

the show please contact Kylie Martin or Lorraine Marshall at school. Kylie is also looking to form a

WASTE WARRIOR NEWS The Waste warriors celebrated all their environmental successes with a picnic around the lemonade tree. We had food to share and a treat from Sharon because we

help with the bins on Mondays. Ms Barrett also gave out certificates to all the warriors who never forget their job. The Supremo Warrior for this term is May Morgan because she never forgets her jobs and always

helps others when they don’t know what to do or are away. Thanks May.

Sculpture Show Holiday Activity.

This year’s Sculpture Show will be our 13th and many people look forward to seeing our creative work. I hope everyone is feeling inspired after our wonderful Art Show! This year we will return to the Library as the hall will be used for entertainment. Please read the following carefully. • Only one entry/child is permitted. Displaying an entry is free. • The subject matter is open, but must be suitable for young children to view. • Children should create the concept and complete as much of the construction themselves as possible. • Parents and friends are invited to assist as the emphasis is on participation, family fun, skill development and creativity. Some materials and tools need supervision for safety reasons. • Materials could include paper, cardboard, wax, plaster, wire, wire mesh, clay, plasticine, play-dough, salt or bread dough, wood, pop-sticks, match sticks, tooth-picks, food, fibre, rock, cement, plant matter, fabric, glass, plastic or any combination you desire. • Using scientific knowledge can be very effective with sculpture, especially if using lights or making it kinetic (moving) or interactive. • Older children might enjoy writing a diary of the design and construction process. This could include drawings and photographs which could also be displayed beside the sculpture. • A form is available from Mrs. Dwyer for children to write their name, grade, works title, materials used and a brief explanation of what inspired them to do their sculpture. Visitors have been very impressed by our children’s ideas and deep thinking in the past. • Displays from parents, high school students and community members are welcome. Business cards can be left so orders can be taken. • Please have the student’s name and grade clearly written somewhere on the sculpture so it can be matched with the written form mentioned above. • Sculptures will be displayed in grade sections – K, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6. Entry fees to view the sculptures will be – Adults: $1.00 School Children: 50c Pre-school: Free Visitors have the opportunity to lodge one People’s Choice Vote for each age group on a ballot paper. Winners will receive a prize of craft materials from our sponsor Tallowood Ridge Estate. A certificate will also be awarded. Completed works can be delivered to Mrs. Dwyer in the library between 8.30 – 9.00 am on the Friday morning of December Fete. Every effort will be made to return sculptures safely to the children. They can be picked up at the end of the fete or on Monday morning. Otherwise they will be delivered to the children’s classrooms as Mrs Haughton-Ward will need the Library cleared . Some sculptures will be held for display in the foyer. I hope you have a great holiday that includes some creativity. I’m hoping that my last Sculpture Show will be the best ever!! Fay Dwyer.
