Special Assembly
Last day of Term 4
Last week years 2 – 6 were involved in the ‘Greenhouse Trailer’ which is an initiative through the North East Waste Forum and North-ern Rivers Councils which includes Byron Shire Council. The green-
house trailer promoted recycling with our students through compost-ing, worm farming and awareness of how much we waste in NSW households over the year. The students really enjoyed the lesson
and I hope you enjoy reading a couple of their recounts.
As part of our schools Annual School Report and to assist with plan-ning each year we ask parents to complete a survey. Last week I sent out a survey to each family with the eldest child. I encourage
you to fill out the survey to help us with our planning; the feedback is really worthwhile for our decision making.

“Green House Manager” Jo Hoy would like to extend
thanks to two wonderful helpers, River and Luke. Thank you boys. Keep thinking

noon when we thought all was
lost we WON our first game.
108 / 50. I bowled again and
was wicket keeper!
We had a presentation back at
the Terrigal oval and the state
team was announced.
It was sad to see the week come
to an end but I had the best ex-
perience in my sporting career. I
made new friends and felt very
proud of my school. Many people
asked where Mullumbimby was
and I proudly told them it was
not far from the most easterly
point of Australia. It’s the
biggest littlest town in Australia.

A reminder that notes for the
BBQ for the last day of term
(Wed 15th) need to be in by no
later than this Friday. There will
be recess available also on the
last day of term.
I am in need of new volunteers
for the start of next year as we
always lose some at the end of
every year. I am finding it very
difficult to do the roster as there
a r e s o m a n y e m p t y
places. Parents who have never
done canteen before are always
v e r y w e l c ome & t h e y
will have me there to show them
the ropes.
I would like to sincerely thank all
the volunteers that have helped
out during this year & wish eve-
ryone a Merry Christmas. I will
look forward to all your help in
2011 & for those whose children
are going on to high school,
thank you very much.

NSWPSSA Girls Cricket State NSWPSSA Girls Cricket State NSWPSSA Girls Cricket State NSWPSSA Girls Cricket State CarnivalCarnivalCarnivalCarnival ---- By Nimmitybel On the 22nd - 25th November
2010, I attended the State
Cricket Carnival with a team of
11 other girls. Our team was
spread over the north coast from
Port Macquarie to Mullum-
bimby. The team manager was
Mr Jack Priestly of Clunes PS.
In Term two I was lucky
enough to be selected for the
Far North Coat Girls Cricket
team. We had various trials
with the selection for the North
Coast State team taking place
in Sawtell. I was chosen as a
batter and second wicket
keeper.
We had a few training sessions
with Mr Priestly before we ven-
tured down to Gosford for the
tournament. Over the four days
we played 7 games. We were in
Pool A as the North Coast team
last year came 5th in the com-
petition.
Our first game was against the
South Coast, a very exciting
game but we lost by 2 runs in
the 25 overs. I bowled and bat-
ted well. I was fielding in slip.
In the afternoon we played
Polding a very experienced
team of country Catholic
schools from Dubbo , Inverell,
Mudgee, Wyong and Tamworth.
We lost 92 / 67.
On Tuesday we started out
very well playing the Western
Public Schools. We lost the toss
but fielded well but couldn’t
make the chase of runs and
lost again by only 3 runs. In
the afternoon we played the
winners of the competition Syd-
ney North Public schools. They
were the best team with one of
the girls retiring on 50 runs.
The oval we played at was
beautiful in Terrigal near the
beach with giant sandstone
cliffs to the south.
After that game the team went
to the beach and swam in the
warm water. We were very
lucky with the weather, all
week it was sunny and warm.
The next 2 games we lost the
toss and again we were chasing
runs, we didn’t make the win-
ning team on either occasion.
All was not lost as we had a
bye on Thursday morning and
Mr Priestly took us to tenpin
bowling.
We all had a great time and we
gave Mr Priestly a thank you
gift for coaching and supporting
us. He was great. That after-

COMMUNITY NEWS
Last week our class went to the Green House Group. The Green House Group is a group of people who travel to schools to show and teach
kids how to look after our planet. They taught us lots of amazing facts such as worms eat cardboard in the compost. They also
taught us that there are triangles on the bot-tom of drink bottles that have numbers on them from one to seven, which means they’re
recyclable. Did you know that lechate is cre-ated by plastic waste in the dump. They also sang songs that the class got to join
in with because when they pointed at our class we had to yell out “Think” and when they
pointed at our class two times quickly, we had to yell out “Think !Think !” . So if the Green House group comes to your
class, pay lots of attention and I bet you’ll love it just like I did. By Charlie Sanders

PERSONAL RECOUNTS
Last week our class went to the Green House.
The Green House is a group that teaches you
amazing and important facts about looking after
the environment that you need to know in your
life. It is very educational to kids and adults.
The people who run the Green House are Peter
and Jo. They taught us heaps of things! We
learnt about the ARRD way of life, which means
to AVOID, RECYCLE, REUSE AND DISPOSE. They
also taught us that poisonous lechate forms from
putting food in the waste bin. We learnt that
worms eat cardboard and poppers are recycla-
ble.
It was very entertaining. Jo showed us her worm
farm. It was amazing. Peter was funny too be-
cause he sang really funny songs, and told us
some spectacular stories as well.
I want to save the planet and try to do the right
thing. Thanks for showing me how Jo and Peter!
